Looking fabulous.  Susan and I noticed (2) discarded rear seats from what appeared to be a commuter van on Franconia road for bulk pick-up.  Those make some impromptu beds when folks are staying over.   A friend of mine revealed to me years ago he rented out his basement with one of those seats to someone (not me).

...driveway a little crowded.   I'm having my driveway repaved Friday 8/12.  I need to do some shuffling.

yes.  there will be a short wall on the left side of approach driveway, and there will be a tall wall along right side as part of a covered walkway between shop door and main house garage.

measure 17 times, cut once.

time to install a one piece section of rubber flooring in the storage side of the upstairs.  cut from a 44ft roll of 9ft wide flooring.

the plan.

lay it out on garage floor, measure and cut.

Great job, very well done. So satisfying when it fits on the first try.

That extension looks pretty cool. Is the stone driveway for the trailer? Had a stone driveway for 9 years, sucked to snow blow or plow. We redid our driveway with bricks. It's easier to maintain now.

once extension exterior done, the old exterior wall will be removed and doors moved to new wall.

yes, the stone is just the trailer(s) parking.  won't need to clear snow from that one...  it is on the back of the lot behind the shop.

Wow, missed the whole build. Happy to be back. I used "Rustbullet" for the floors. Power washed the floor and rolled the floor out. Simpler, cheaper and 15 mos. later it looks good...through the dirt and sawdust. I left about 20 % of the floor area in sealed, but not painted, concrete in the metal working area as nothing stands up to the welding and plasma debris.

I am sorry to say this, but I am disappointed on the pool side. I thought sure you would have a retractable diving board out of the French doors.

How high do you have the evaporator on the Fujitsu? The actual sensing element for the t-stat operation is mounted on the coil. If you get the unit to high it may affect comfort on the floor in the cooling mode. Cold air being heavier and more dense it will pool. Not a biggie, but fyi. Not sure how much freezing weather you get there but keep an eye on the Fujistu condensing unit. In the defrost mode the unit rejects heat to the outside, melting the ice on the coil. As your condensing unit is sitting ON the pad, it has very little clearance to allow the water to drain out of the bottom and away. They make 4 & 6" riser blocks (Diversatech and Airtec) for the condensing units and I would suggest that you speak to your contractor about putting them in. From what I see of the piping, that should not be a problem. I have seen the condenser fan frozen into a block of ice with the unit on the pad. It may never happen, but...eyes open.

As I mentioned before, stay up with the cleaning of the evaporators. Clean the filters regularly, and check the condition of the fan blades and the coil. You have to remove the entire cover to do so, but it is not a big deal. Do it annually to see how the unit is doing. Have your dealer show you the method on Fujitsu's web site. It has screw by screw disassembly photos. About 40% of your evap coil surface area is on the back of the unit and that is where the gunk tends to accumulate. You know, the part you cannot easily access. I've worked out a method of cleaning that doesn't require dropping the drain pan and fan. Contact me when you are ready. It is more of a problem for me here in CA as we live in a dust bowl. You seem to have green stuff that grows out of the ground. Amazing!

You've built a great spot. Well done!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
