Nice progress Ryan.  Left fender replacement and right one original style?  Left one doesn't have the reflector..

As for the howling, the CSB might be the issue.

Thanks Jim, left fender is a WN replacement fender. I figure the car will undergo paint and body in a few weeks here so I thought it unwise to drill two more holes when the others will be filled. I like this car more and more. It was a hit today at Vintage.

I confirmed it's the diff yesterday. I'm 96% sure of it.

noted! I'll do something nice with them.

Got the interiors in last night. Some things aren't quite right but Abdu is working to make them right. He's been great throughout the whole process, for as long as it has been.

The front or rear cards don't have the provisions for the plastic pieces that the mylar tape adheres to. So I will have to figure something out on those. But they look good otherwise. A little wavy but I think that adds character.

Newer photos from today. I got most of the interior in. There are things I need to add (like the rear door card's elbow rest thing). The front and rear cards don't have provisions for mylar tape and that doesn't bug me so much yet. But I do have to remedy this for the Florida car. That car has to be right. This car is already strange so I like it as-is.

Now I just need to play with the rear GC suspension and get the rebuilt carb on and I'm back in business.

The Florida has been painted and is in wet-sanding/buffing phase. My painter will apply the chip guard (Schutz) tomorrow and then repaint. Don't ask why he is doing it this way, but he is. At this point, I trust him.

The lighting is all fucky but it's really really ridiculously nice.

Perfect! Which scares me because I'm not sure how to preserve it.

Don't worry.

It's 40 years old. It will crack no matter what you do :)

Stop reading this! Don't you have anything better to do?? :P

Hush, old man. Don't feed me the reality of 40 year-old parts. Just lie to me and tell me everything will be ok.

Looking great Ryan! We'll have to get our Florida's side by side when we're both done!

Should I drive to you or are you coming to me?

That looks great!! Really diggin that color, the chip guard situation is odd though, I have to agree.

Thanks Dave! If the chip-guard does in fact chip off, then you will still see Florida paint underneath. So in a sense, I "get it", I've just never seen it done this way before.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
