Borrani Wheels Tire Recommendation

Recommended Posts

Hi,

just want to share my latest find. A complete set Borrani 6x13 ET17 wheels and NOS hubcaps for a total of $340. What tire size do you guys recommend? I have cut the rear fender lips but they are not rolled or pulled. In the front I have camberplates, both on top and in bottom.

Will195/60 tires work without issues?

The wheels will be sandblasted and powdercoated.

That offset pushes the wheel out further than would be ideal. I suspect that 195s will rub without a bit of fender rolling.

It should clear the struts easily though.

Great find! I am super jealous of those hubcaps :) !! At least in the US, we can't get a 195/60/13. 205 or 185 is what we can get. My Borrani's are offset 30, tires are 205 and fit with significant rolling , using a proper fender rolling tool.

    Good luck!

Good score! Center caps look sweet!

Daniel (Mojojoy on the FAQ) is running 205/60/13's on a set of 13x6.5 and I would honestly call that perfect. I know he had to do aggressive rolling/pulling, though.

My Borranis are also 13x6.5. I wasn't able to source a set of 205/60's, so I went with 185/60's that I found new on ebay. Only have mounted the rear so far but they will only need a VERY slight pull.

If you can find 195/60's do it, but otherwise 185s should be a great fit on your wheels!

Here is a car with 195/60s on 13x6

Not sure of this tire size but it looks very nice

I do agree on Daniels wheels/car. It's perfect! I have a friend who is willing to trade two of mine 6x13 for two of his 6,5x13. In that case I would have 6,5 in the rear and 6 in the front. What do you think? Should I make the trade?

Daniel's wheels are et0 iirc. So yours would require less work to make it fit.

If the offset on the other wheels are acceptable I would go for the trade.

Certainly the factory 6.5x13 R1-581 rims are/were ET8. But I must admit that Daniel's rims look "deeper-than-deep-dish." Could he, or a prior owner, have modified them? The Verona red '73 car is wearing 5.5x13 Alpina steelies and the Colorado orange '73 car looks to be wearing 5.5x13 Borrani steelies.

Regards,

Steve

I think the 205 tire makes the wheel look deeper than with the 185 tire, don´t you agree?

Maybe! Too many variables! Green Swede's 185/70s are bordering on an ever-so-slightly stretched appearance, but S99's 185/60s don't share that. Does the brand and model of tire make a material difference? I don't know. MOJOJOY's 6.5 rims look like 6.5+ but perhaps the lighting also contributes to that feeling.

Green Swede, those are 6" rims. Correct, or did you upgrade (I know you're a rim junkie, as am I)?

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
