Touring 250Mm Rear Drum Different Than 320I Drum?

If it was used with the 2002 hub, it probably wasn't hubcentric on the touring.

But that shouldn't prevent you from using one.  Wonder if the shoe width and position is the same.

The E21 part is cheap- order one and see if it works!

no help here,

Is the stock 250mm drum on the Touring different than the 320i drum that people use on rear big brake upgrade? Do these parts interchange? Thanks!

As far as I know, all Tourings (except 1600) had the same 230mm brake drum as the sedans (part# 34 21 1 101 741)..my Touring does anyway.

The Turbo had the 250mm drum (part# 34 21 1 117 047)

Only Neu Klasse & Turbos got the 250mm drums

2002s all variants (plus 1502 & 1802) got the 230mm *see pic

and 1600-02s got 200mm

If you car has 250mm drums on it now, then a PO has probably done the E21 rear brake swap.

All E21 drums were 250mm also.

however the Haynes manual says Tourings have 250mm drums. Not saying it's correct. here is a photo

Haynes also shows the 1500-1600 as 250mm, so I think there is two errors on that page.

The info I posted is from the BMW Original Parts Catalogue, which I would believe over Haynes.

Have you measured your drums to confirm they are indeed 250mm? Best confirm that, then look for the correct parts.

250mm part numbers #34 21 1 101 787 & #34 21 1 117 047  -  have been replaced with #34 21 6 752 373.

Which are the same number the E21 & NK part numbers.

So Yes E21 250mm drums will fit.

There are two errors on the Haynes page but what´s wrong with 1500-1600 NK Sedan being described as having 250mm drums? Those cars in fact had 250mm drums.

Error 1: Touring never had brakes any different from Sedan with the same engine. 1,6L always came with 200mm from factory, all others had 230mm.

Error 2: 1502 had 230mm drums with different wheel cylinders and no 200mm.

Regards, Lars.

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
