Add me to the list of people who have PatAllen's sweet little "BMW 2002 Diagnostic Tool". 

Definitely a 'too-cool tool'.   a.k.a. the Wunderbox.

 

If your 02 is equipped with the 9-pin diagnostic connector near the fuse box, this little

unit plugs right into that connector.

 

Sure, you can go out and buy a remote switch, but this box goes many steps further.

Has an ignition on/off switch, so you can either just turn over the engine, or start it.

Great for adjusting valves.

 

It also has an LED readout for: tach, Dwell angle, and voltage.

 

Best of all, it works!.

We were at the Bavauto fall show and shine a few years ago when I asked Pat "what the heck is that" when he opened his trunk - the rest is history.  Pat is a very clever guy, I am sure he will chime in.

I have one..but have to connect the plug 180 degrees to the stock socket since someone installed the socket backwards.
