Anyone know of a good shop with some decent knowledge on 1600 / 2002's ?

Gunna start buying parts for my 1600, and would also like to have a reputable shop to go to as well for parts.

Anyone ever use Bavarian Auto in Rosemead ?

Rudy Fonseca, the owner, is one of the best guys you'll ever meet. He was a bit of a pioneer back in the day. Of course his shop is more of a repair shop and he reclocated there from his other shop/location in Alhambra. Back in the late 80's I traded an 82 320i for a 74tii he had sitting in his lot (tii has since been sold). He's a great mechcanice very thorough, dependable. I'm sure he can help you out with locating parts but I am not sure if that is one of his services.

I put him right up there with Leif (who just recently passed), I just wanted to say he's a great guy! Good luck.

VERY and there is a shop literally right next door that may work on them....Ireland KNOWS their stuff and actually have engineered plenty of parts for 02's...like suspension, engine, body, etc...I am running Ireland sport Stage II springs on my car...LOVE them.

The shop that is right next to Ireland Engineering is called Groma Fabrication. The owner's name is Ed and he's done some stand up work on 02s. I bring my '72tii to him and he's been great. Very knowledgeable, honest, and fair. Check out their website:

My favorite shop is BimmerTech in Brea, Ted has always done great work on my 2002tii and my wife's 320i.

I've never had work done at Groma, but they've been very helpful answering many questions. Groma has a great reputation.

Windigo BMW in Anaheim Hills. I don't know if they do 2002 stuff anymore ....
