Any new Fiat 500 owners here yet?

I've seen a few around town here, most recently yesterday, color was "Oliva Verde" (Olive Green ); and while waiting outside at a restaurant for my folks, a few weeks ago, there was a red one from a local dealer (Doan Fiat ) on display; parked to the side of the front entrance of the restaurant, that one was "Rosso" (Red); walked around it a few times, checked out the sticker on the window, etc..neat car,

Remember when FIAT use to mean "Fix it again, Tony!"

Lets see how she holds up (I guess made in Mexico should mean... squat!)

My Dad and Stepmom just bought one. Its a pretty fun car to drive. Very go-karty. Yes, it is fwd, but lift-off oversteer is easy to achieve if one wants some.

Plus, it has a Sport button!

I have nothing real to contribute here, but it seems like everywhere in town I go, I see Jorma Kaukonen's wife driving a new brown Fiat 500. (Yes, that Jorma Kaukonen! He has a house right down the street from me)

Hehehe. It really seems silly to me to drive without the sport button on in the Fiat. If its off, the throttle is muddy and the steering is really light. I guess it help people get better gas mileage as well as lets the little ladies drive the car all day...

Just sayin' lift-off oversteer in it is wayyy too much fun...for fwd...

If you really want performance out of a 500, there's talk about them bringing the abarth version over here next year. And if that takes too long, you can get a turbo kit for your 500 for under $2000 which puts the HP up to 140 or so (from 105).

The mini *should* win all of the reviews considering that it is nearly %50 more expensive than a 500. The CRZ is miles from its heritage, and is kind of an odd comparison with the fiat and the mini.

For most, I believe that the 500 will just be an accessory like shoes or a hat... But for those of us who live in a city where parking is at a premium, it is a welcome advance in cars that are available in the states.

You're dead on about the Mini, I went to a dealership yesterday just to take a second look at them, and the cost, even for a used one is pretty high. The new coupe? Butt-ugly in my opinion. And they're not a problem free car. I owned a 1986 CRX, the only car I have ever bought brand new, and loved it. Sold it in '93 when i bought my first 02. The friend who bought it from me, drove it for another ten years without a problem. I do live in the heart of a big city, so a small car is a bonus. And as far as the Abarth is concerned, I'm sure it will sell for a premium. I have more fun driving a slow car fast!

The fiat is not all that slow... For a car with 100 bhp . It basically feels like a stock 2002 acceleration wise.

And it is much snappier than a stock 02. With no mass outside of the wheelbase, it feels very planted and responds to driver input quite well.

If I were given 15G to spend on a brand new car, I'm not sure I would even consider a civic or a Camry with the 500 not being available.

I see Jorma Kaukonen's wife driving a new brown Fiat 500.

Jorma trashed my friend Kenyon Childs house up in Woodstock NY while he rented it.

I love the new 500. Wish I could get to drive one.

Nice looking car for your wife, girl friend, sister, mom or any other individual that likes to wear a skirt or a dress from time to time.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
