Alpina wheel arches

Two tricky parts. You have to get a good idea where you want the wheel opening to be and start from there.

Not sure of all the specifics, I did not track this process in its entirety.

The fender was cut, then crimped so the lip on the arch would lay flush with the face of the fender. The fellow who did this, did not think the 1/2" crimp was enough to support the lip so he welded more metal to that crimp. THen he glued, riveted all this together then packed the back of the flares with marine epoxy to give it some strength. Wish I could be more helpful.

Hey Babydaddy, which set did you use? Did you track down an original set, or were they repops?

I think I am going this route when it comes time for repaint.. I like the happy medium.. well, this or the omni/rabbit idea for the metal factor. But correct parts would be best.

2002 newbie, and dead serious about it.

Is Dave alive and well? I recall he was quite ill a few years ago.

Does anyone have his contact info?

Thanks.

P.S. I stumbled across these things in the past: http://www.klokkerholmusa.com/servlet/the-213/1975-dsh-1984-volkswagen-rabbit-2/Detail
