if you see "APLINA" than you have ALPINA rims

you have all the information you need.

Are they straight ?

problem is the ET 18 is really for E21 320i cars-

not your 2002 - but 10's of owners put them on 02's anyway.

proper 02 rims are ET 29 ...33

They are straight and true. No curbing or rash. Just not right for my car. I am getting rubbing. 185 70 13 on it. So could they be machined down to change the offset?

I recall that Josh on this board had his 15inch Alpina's machined down (I think).

Worst case is to put those up for sale (prob e21 folks would be all over them) and buy other wheels that you like more and fit...

Machining isn't really a great option, I know of one person that did it with some 6x15 one piece ALPINA's. Some wheels have more "meat" on the backside than others it seems, so that factor as well as utilizing a machinist that is set up to do it and comfortable is another. No margin for errof for a effup.

Well,

that isn´t totally right. Alpina 5,5x13 were made for use with BMW 02. As were the 6 and 6,5x13. 5,5x13 Alpina were produced at least since 1973 when E21 was not really in sight (Alpina A4 car with round tail lights in german Auto,Motor und Sport 1973`s article had them on for example).

In the german TUEV papers you can read: 5,5x13 will require rolling of the fender lips. 6 and 6,5x13 will "require mounting of fitting wheel covers" which means either small or big Alpina fender extensions (some cars at Buchloe were also fitted with the factory turbo fender extensions when those became available - e.g. a well documented norwegian A2 touring that is in restoration at the moment).

If you didn´t place special orders Alpina 02 cars where equipped with 5,5x13 front and rear with rolled fender lips. For 02 6x13 or 6,5x13 only in combination with fender extensions. Early E21 Alpina cars with M10 (A1/3, A2/3, A4/3) and the M20 C1 2,3 had 6x13 at the front and 6,5x13 at the rear axle without extensions (late C1´s also with 15´s). 6/7x15 used for the big six E21 B6 2,8 with the small mud flaps behind rear wheels.

And my recommendation: DON´T EVER MACHINE on alloy rims. Guy I knew did this on the rims for his Opel some years ago. He´s dead now because one rim broke in a fast driven corner and he ended up smashed at a tree.

Best regards, Lars.

I did machine own some 15x7s ALPINAs to fit an 02, but you can't take much off without putting structural integrity in question. Not a good option, especially on puny 13x5.5 rims that can be swapped out for the right offset...

now: '72 Inka 2000 touring, '82 Alpina C1 2.3  & '92 M5T (daily driver)

before: a lot of old BMWs (some nice, some not so much), a few air-cooled 911s and even a water-cooled Cayman S
