Most likely the recaros you sat in had worn out webbing and center foam.

Old on left, new on right.

Here are mine. Pics from when they were first installed. They have been cleaned since!

Original upholstery circa 1975. I am the second owner.

Lower bolsters on the passenger side. Installed with my low stance adapters.

Hey, I get to post cool seats now! Here are mine: Recaro LS, freshly recovered in marine blue vinyl. And, yes, it is time for new carpet.
