M20 Swap Motor And G260 Transmission Mounts

I'm finally at the point where I have enough sets of mounts ready to be shipped out. I'll post more details after I get off work, but here's a quick summary.

The engine has been relocated vs the last time I made mounts based off the Dan Williams mount. It now sits with in 1/2 degree of the factory 20 degree tilt. It has been centered so the crankshaft is nearly identical in location as the M10 crankshaft, just a bit lower. I moved it back about 3/4 of an inch so there is a lot more clearance between the transmission bell housing and steering linkage. After all of that, now the factory e30 exhuast downpipe fits which saves a bunch of time. The factory e30 driveshaft still fits, and like all the other mounts, requires you to relocate the center support bearing mounts because they do not line up.

The mount plates still use the e30 or 2002 drivers side rubber mount and 2002 passenger side. The passenger side subframe mount holes need to be slotted 10mm so the engine can sit correctly(see pic). The rain drip tray will need a bit of massaging, not as much as what I did to my car which was after a few iterations of the motor location.

The transmission mount uses standard e30 manual transmission rubber mounts, I will be using IE poly mounts on the transmission and motor.

Motor mounts, still $125 shipped

Transmission mount. $85 shipped

Set of motor and transmission mounts. $195 shipped.

Anyone who emailed me or PM'd me about mounts already will be the first to receive them and I can have them in the mail tomorrow morning.

More to come later today.

Chad I think with the 323 casing and the 245 guts we still have to shorten the drive shaft. I'm still wondering if manimals mounts will fit the 323 route.

@manimal, still got some of those engine mounts? I'm interested in the engine mounts and if your tranny mount will fit the 323 casing route I want some of those too. PM SENT! :D

I am not too worried about the transmission mount but more concerned if the placement of the engine and trany would allow you to use the E30 drive shaft.  The transmission mount is different on the G245 than the G260.  I am more interested to hear if they are the same length.  If they are then Manimal's engine mounts should theoretically place the engine and transmission in the same place to utilize the E30 drive shaft.  I already have fabricated my own mounts and have the engine and trany installed but if I can get away using an E30 shaft and down pipe then it might be in my best interest to buy his mounts.  I guess I need to just run to a pick n pull and snag an E30 shaft and see if it already fits.  My placement and Manimal's looks similar.
