Hello everyone. I am relatively new to the forum, and new to 2002s in general. I bought this car from a great seller here back in October and planned to tinker on it with my son in the spring, but some unexpected family expenses are forcing me to sell it.
-Malaga/saddle (I believe)
-numbers matching
-I have driven the car approximately 300 miles this winter, when the weather allowed. In situations where it has been sitting for a few days, the car might take two or three turns of the key, but it has started every time and idles and runs strong. As I mentioned, I am new to 2002s, but this car has been a really solid driver.
-manual 4 speed. Shifts easily and smoothly. I have not felt any issues at all with the transmission or shifting.
-Does have some new suspension parts from previous owner - sway bar links and center link look brand new. There is a clicking sound coming from the right front on tight turns, such as pulling into a tight parking spot. The car tracks straight, but does pull slightly under steady to hard braking.
-Almost brand new tires
-Decent repaint at some point. There is some overspray in some areas that you can see in the pictures, but overall it is a pretty good respray.
-Really nice interior....I assume original. Clean dash, nice center console, and nice saddle interior. There is one small crack in the passenger seat bottom about 1 inch long. I didn't notice it unitl I pushed on the seat bottom and it revealed itself. Driver door panel has some small amount of separation at the bottom mylar strip. Seems like that one could be repaired easily maybe, as all the material is there.
-Factory bus wheel. Car will come with a smaller sport wheel as well. Sport wheel looks good, but I prefer steering the factory one.
-Carpet has some wear, mostly around the pedal assembly, but overall it presents well.
-Spare tire well was clearly repaired at some point, and lacks the factory correct patterns. There is no evidence that the repair has structural issues.
-I do not see any rust issues on the car. All the trouble spots are solid. Rocker panels, shock towers, fender wells, frame rails, etc. are solid as a rock. If any potential buyer would like to see pictures of anything that I do not have in the folder than I would be glad to take additional photos.
-Heater and all sliders/functions work great! It has been a relatively mild winter in NC but the heater has been awesome.
-Odometer is inoperable.
-There is a faint smell of gas in my garage just after I start the car and let it run.
-Original radio works great.
-Windshield wipers will not turn OFF. I sourced a switch from a reputable member of the forum here.
-Driver front side marker lense is broken. I bought one of those from a member of the forum as well.
I am simply trying to get back close to what I paid to get in this car and nothing more. Like I said, I was going to play around with the car in the spring, but the family dog as been diagnosed with lymphoma, and we have some chemotherapy starting soon. I have two toys, and the e28 (1987 535is) is not going to be sold first. I have a clean NC title and registration, and would happy to drive a reasonable distance to show or sell the car. I don't know a great deal about these yet, but I have been following the forum here and will try to answer any questions I can as soon as possible. I am negotiable on the sale, but this is a nice driver quality roundie that you can enjoy immediately. It would also be a nice candidate to take to the next level. You can reach me here on the forum, email me at russellrh72@yahoo.com, or simply call me at 336-817-7053. Thanks everyone.
