  1. Here is a video of the A Main from 2012: http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=yhs-invalid&p=The+Fray+in+Ferndale
  2. There is a rather religious following around the old Aurora Thunderjet chassis based cars. There is a yearly race for these cars just up north in Ferndale: http://thefrayinferndale.com/ They have 9 hand routed six lane tracks. Every year they get between 9 and 11 teams. One comes all the way from St Louis. Its the biggest race of the year for Tjets. Stuart
  3. Conway - If you want a track, Brad Bowman is your guy. He builds the best hand routed tracks out there. He can build anything you dream up. Just do a search on Brad's tracks. Stuart aka Spike
  4. algon - I did not see these. They are very nice and well detailed. I would not want to alter these for racing as they would get abused. What I would do is have a resin cast done of them for a vintage IROC race and get them decorated and painted accordingly. Perhaps on a Tjet chassis which would be more period style. It could be done. Spike
  5. Autobon 7 - Those are the 1/24th scale winged cars. Very fast. There are unlimited class HO cars that are just as fast. An Unlimited HO car turned the Katz Spa Ring in just under 6 seconds. Crazy fast and they require great finger reflex to drive. Stuart
  6. The track is currently at its third home in Escondido. There is a great back story to this track. The track was conceived by Greg Katz and built by Brad Bowman. Greg was a local racer here in the SF Bay Area. He added a room to his house just for this track. Greg was a big part of the slot racing community and this was his dream track. The track took his mind off his battle with brain cancer. Sadly Greg lost his battle with cancer but his dream track lives on. The track was in SF for a while but has since been moved to SoCal with its builder. Several local and out of town racers came to help move this great track as they did not want to see it lost. For this track we would run Tjet versions of the 02. The 2002s for the IROC race are being resin cast by a friend of mine from the dicast Hot Wheels 2002 as the wheel base is pretty close. I want to run them on a Tyco narrow chassis as they handle better on a road course. He is also resin casting the racing version of the 3.0CS coupe complete with the wing!. This one will sit on a Tyco pan chassis and we will run them on my friend's Shaun's 6 lane hand routed tri-oval also built by Brad. http://shaunadega.com/ This will take some time to pull together but just as the 02 is a labor of love that takes time, so will be the slot versions. Here is a picture of what I'm shooting for. This one sits on a Tomy Super G chassis. I have a master slot car painter ready to go as soon as I have the bodies ready. Stuart
  7. Once I get the IROC 2002 slot cars done, my goal is to head to LA with them and see if the 02 club members would want to race them on this! It's the KatzSpaRing! 170 ft of hand routed 4 lane complete with a running monorail. Its a hobby that allows you to be 7 years old again. My good friend Brad Bowman builds custom tracks and this is easily the finest track ever built. Short video of the whole track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJAymWeTx9Y I hope this works, I took it from Facebook. Its an "in car view" of a lap around the track. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10200372620856496&set=vb.194164060642077&type=2&theater Yeah its off topic, sorry, but there might be a few guys on this board that had tracks growing that will remember the fun they had racing slots as a kid. Enjoy and have a good Labor Day weekend. Stuart
  8. bemore2002 - Can I please get a breakdown of you stance? Rim size, tire size, and spring set up?
  9. There are many threads that talk about tire and wheel options/combinations. What I am looking for is a thread that talks about what is out there in terms of 14" rims. What manufacturers are making and or have made 14" rims. I am specifically looking for BBS rim options in 14" traditional basket weave style. I have a set of 13" BBS rims but lowering my car to them does not produce the proportional look I'm going for. Stuart
  10. This one sits on a Tomy Super G. The body is a resin cast from a Hot Wheels diecast. I'm having some made that will sit on a Tyco narrow chassis. The plan is to have 4 bodies made and painted in different 02 colors and put equally prepared chassis under them for an IROC style race. I have a 52 ft four lane road course in my garage with a PC based race management system for timing and lap counting. Seeing if local 02 owners would be interested in a club race. We'll see.
  11. I have a hard time understanding the though process behind this paint job....

  13. All - I am working with a few of my slot car hobby friends to come up with an HO scale 2002 slot car. They will be painted 02 colors of course. The intent is to build IROC style 02s painted in 02 colors. This may take a while but after they are ready I will host a race om my track for local 02 owners. Pictures of the cars will be posted when they are ready. Stuart

Is this forum the best way to reach out to local owners? Stuart
  16. One of the reasons I got my 02 was to teach my 3 boys that taking care of your car is not just calling the mechanic or running it through the car wash. Having them know the basics and understand the workings of the car might help them when they have their own.
  17. Yes it is in the South Bay. The track is located close to Monterey Hwy and the 101/85 interchange. I know the owner very well and have raced on this track for 15 years. He hosted the Corvette club last year. How many 02 owners do we have in the Bay Area and what would be the best way to get the word out/check the interest level in this type of event? I won the A Main last night and my son finished 4th. He would have taken 3rd but a mechanical had him off the track for a few laps. Stuart
  18. The track is off Monterey hwy north of 85. Its a 50 foot 6 lane hand routed trioval. Good race tonight. 11 drivers. Qualifying was in lane 4 tonight. I was top qualifier at 1.649 seconds and my son was second at 1.770 seconds. I took 1st in the A Main and he was 4th. I am going to try and pull together an IROC race for a bunch of local 02 owners.S Stuart
  19. I'm keeping the bumper on. Just need to get the mounting bolt installed on the driver side of it so its level.
