  1. So when I can't drive my 02, I drive these: http://shaunadega.com/ It gives me my driving fix on a smaller scale. The video on the media page of the site has my 3 boys 1, 2 & 3 in the B main and me finishing second in the A main by 2 laps. Had a tech and testing session at the track last night in prep for tonight's race. I'm wondering if we could pull together a race here for Bay Area 02 owners? We could do an IROC style race. I can provide all the cars and controllers. Let me know if you are interested. Stuart

  3. San Jose coming over 85 on Union Ave between 5 and 6pm this evening. A blue 74 with Turbo flares and stripping, euro bumper conversion on the rear, no front bumper and an air dam. Only got a quick look as it went by. Looked very nice!
  4. Carl - Sorry I left off the trip details. San Jose CA to Grass Valley CA. Grass Valley is in the foothills of the Sierras. Freeway most of the way but the last 25 miles is fun 2 lane twisty mountain road. Stuart
  5. Cecil Beach Bodystyles does very nice work. His website is being worked on right now but there is contact info. http://www.bodystylebycecil.com/1601.html He did a 55 Speedster for my dad that was tremendous! I spoke with him about doing an 02 and he is on the higher end in terms of price but the work is top shelf. Stuart
  6. Took my 72 on the road for her first long drive. I bought her less than 2 weeks ago and did not have much on the overall mechanical road worthiness. The PPI was good but not great detail. Had to take her to my 02 expert for a complete shake down. He lives 170 miles away. How far do some of you go to get your car in the right hands? I did not push her hard and she ran like a champ the whole way. Got a little temperature bump on longer climbs but that was it. Just the start........ Stuart
  7. I am in the Bay Area as well and just bought a Chamonix 72 that I will be doing a motor for at some point. Casey Motor Sports in Petaluma is also a good choice. I would like to speak with you and exchange notes on what we are doing with our respective 02s. Maybe we can help each other. I have a very good friend that worked for years at A&E in Campbell before starting his own shop in Grass Valley. He is now doing cars at his home and is one of the more knowledgable 02 guys I know. My email is skjerven4198@yahoo.com. Stuart
  8. I have a very messy job ahead of me. I want to remove the old material and replace it with new. So a couple questions: 1. Are there tricks to removing the old material? 2. Is there an adhesive under the old material? 3. If so how does that need to be removed? 4. Where do I buy new material? 5. Does it require adhesive? 6. Should I remove the hood for this process? The questions just keep coming. Thanks Stuart
  9. So it will be a while before the current motor comes out and I don't like a dirty engine compartment. Elbow grease can be used on the areas that are easy to reach but for the small places I can't get to I'm looking for a spray on cleaner that can be washed off.
  10. I like the blue and I like the tan even though it was not a factory option on the Chamonix. The car has a set of Recaros in it that are blue cloth and the blue color is a horrible blue that is not even close to the blue on the door panels. Is there a blue seat covering for Recaros that is a good match with the blue door panels?
  11. Planning ahead. Interior color choice with a Chamonix 72? 1. All black - front & rear seats, interior panels front and back, carpet kit 2. All blue - same 3. All tan/tobacco - same Anyone have any pictures of these options? The car currently has recaros with a blue cloth covering front and back and I'm not a fan of the shade of blue and it looks strange against the standard blue door panels. Stuart
  12. So I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger on a 72 and I'm looking for some information. The trim has some dings and I have no idea what these pieces cost or where I might source them. Here is what I'm looking for pricing on: 1. Trim work all the way around 2. New grill right, left and center 3. Hood badge (buy new or repaint what I have) 4. Rear badge (same) 5. Recover Recaro seats front and rear 6. New door panels on front doors 7. New panels in rear 8. Seatbelts front and rear The front and rear bumpers both have small dings. Replace or repair? Just the start of lots of questions. Stuart
  13. Any chance this is still available? Anyone know? I've reached out a couple times but no response.
  14. So I'm looking at coast to coast. The quotes I've gotten are between $1200 and $1500 for an open carrier. We'll see. Just want to know if there are any companies that people know of and have used that they like for a long haul. Thanks, Stuart
  15. What do I look for in a shipping company before I trust it? Stuart
  16. Need a PPI on a car in NY city. Any recommendations? Thanks, Stuart
  17. Looking at a 73 in CO. Anyone know of someone that can do a PPI on a car in Littleton CO?
  18. All - I am finding it very frustrating to locate a non tii 02 at a reasonable price. The prices being asked are unreal and in my opinion will not hold over time like a more "classic" type car. I apologize to those that do view the 02 as a collector/classic car. So hence my question. Do you see the 02 as a collector/classic or hobbyist car? Two very different things that pull different prices. If it is a "hobbyist" type car then the hobbyists are being priced out of the market. Am I just being unrealistic in the affordability of a solid 72 or 73 02? Or.........is this just a case of sour grapes? Thoughts?
