  1. Removing old sound deadening(sp?) material from the underside of my hood ahead of a steam cleaning. Goggles - check Sheet to cover engine - check Mask for the dust - check Park car in street - will do Gloves - ?? Anything else? I'l go after the leftover glue after the steam cleaning. Stuart
  2. How hard are these to find? Anyone have a set? Stuart
  3. I had seen this car advertised and was hoping it went to a good home. Based on the description, you have a well sorted out car with some very nice performance upgrades. Enjoy! Stuart
  4. Is there anyone in the San Jose Bay Area that could work on an 1961 700 Coupe? Also, is there anyone that might still be a source for parts? Just helping my brother as he has one sitting in his garage. Thanks, Stuart
  5. Wow. Way more BMWs in larger scale. I am trying to get an 02 done to fit a tyco chassis. It's proving to be a challenge to get one cast from the Hot Wheels 02 due to getting a wheel base match.
  6. For those of you in the Bay Area group, I'm having a race at my house this saturday night. If anyone is interested in coming and giving it a try let me know. I'm in the Cambrian Park area. Track opens at 7pm with qualifying at 8pm. Here is a photo of the track: Let me know. Stuart
  7. I sold a 73.5 911T project car to buy my 02.
  8. If I was better with photo shop I would have done my best "jackalope" version of my car.
  9. My father recently sold his house in Jackson Wy. As a result he had some stuff he wanted to get rid of. The other day he gave me a large elk antler rack. My first thought was what would I do with these? My next thought was what could I sell them for and what could I buy for my 02 with that money. This triggered a whole series of what can I sell to support my 02? All of a sudden I was listing off things I could sell and what I thought I could get for them. This became a list of if I sold this I could buy this. My next thought was, is this how an addict feels, to which I answered yes. Oh my. So the question, what have you sold or thought to sell to support your 02 addiction? I also found out that selling elk antlers in CA is illegal.
  10. My first 02 was a 76 which I was lucky enough to drive in 77 and 78 while in high school. Great date car. The 2 songs I loved to drive to back then were Queen's We are the Champions and Van Halen's Running with the Devil. Sorry had to post twice on this one. Way to many great memories.
  11. Great thread! Summertime - Janis Joplin out front of Big Brother and the Holding Company Twentieth Century Fox - The Doors Shine on You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd Tiny Dancer - Elton John The list is long.
  12. He used 1-Shot lettering enamel. I have asked him for details on the paint colors and process of cleaning and prepping them prior to hand painting them. I have also asked him if he would do some for others. The one thing I will say is that if he does them, turnaround on his work does take some time. Let me see what he says. Here are a few more pics. As they were when they came off: After cleaning and prep: Done: Stuart
  13. Ken - Its a friend of mine that lives up around Sonora. He did this as a one off for me. Not sure if he would do this in quantities but I can ask. He paints many different things including cars, motorcycles, helmuts and even HO scale slotcars. The photo below is of 4 cars he painted for an IROC style race on the track to the right. He is an artist. Stuart
  14. Looking for seat work as well as a few other interior projects in the San Jose area. I have a 72 with Marine Blue panels and a set of Recaro KBA seats in a blue cloth that is no where near the Marine Blue. Have spoken with Dave at Aardvarc and would go with him if I were in San Diego. Spoke with World and they were on the more expensive side. I'm looking at 4 local shops in the San Jose Bay Area. Bascom Trim & Upholstery Santa Clara - They were higher than most. $2,000 for recovering seats before material. $300 more than most on things like installing a carpet kit and doing a headliner Craig's Automotive Upholstery Campbell - Craig has been in the business for years. Sounded like a good guy but was honest with me in that he was a small shop with 4 cars in front of me so he was not taking any new business Jeda Generations Auto Upholstery San Jose - Jack Davis is the owner. He was trained by his dad and he was the Recaro seat distributor for the west coast for many years. Jack is 81 and still loves the craft and to him it is a craft. His price for recovering my seats front and back including material was right about what Bascom wants. He is an old world craftsman. I like him a lot. Finish Line Interiors Santa Clara - Byron sounds like a good guy. No quote yet on the work I want. Taking my car to him on Wednesday. He comes highly recommended from Cecil Beach who does quality paint and body here in San Jose. Byron said he has done several 02s. We'll see. Stuart
  15. mlytle - I have been through the "Stance" thread. Thank you for the nice pics. What's the suspension set up on that nice car? Stuart
  16. Mike - Bring it with the next time you come to CA. A friend of mine has a very nice portable track for that. Stuart
  17. I know its off topic and yes I did post it on the San Jose Bay Area section. I have been trying to get the Bay Area group together for some slot car racing but it's slow going so I will shelf the 02 club race idea for now. For any 02 owners in the Bay Area, there is a regular monthly race this Saturday night, 10/19, at the track I want to have the 02 club race on, The Shaunadega Raceway. http://shaunadega.com/ The track is South San Jose close to Bernal and 85. If anyone is interested in a fun night out and a chance to get back to your "toy car" roots please let me know and I will have cars and controllers ready to go racing. The track opens at 7pm and qualifying starts at 8pm. Stuart skjerven4198@yahoo.com
  18. So lots of views but only a couple with interest so I think we shelf the club race idea for now. For the 2 of you that expressed interest, there is a race this Saturday night at the track I want to have the 02 club race on, The Shaunadega Raceway. http://shaunadega.com/ If either of you want to come please let me know and I will have cars and controllers ready to go for you. The track opens at 7pm and qualifying starts at 8pm. I hope you can make it. Stuart skjerven4198@yahoo.com
  19. 70deluxe - I am considering this rim. Would like to see a pic of your car when she gets her new shoes. Are you lowering the car? If so, I'd like to get the details. Thanks in advance, Stuart
  20. I did a search and could not find this. Does anyone have the definitive breakdown on the older BBS rims that were either made for our cars or would fit them? I don't care for any of the newer BBS rims. I have seen the following models: RM, RS, RZ, and RA. Are there others? What I am looking for is a breakdown of each of these including what type of rim (3 piece or single), the sizes they were available in, and any good sources for them. I'm interested in those that come in a 14x6.5 or a 15x7. Thanks in advance for any help. Stuart
  21. Fred - Good stuff. I am in the middle of my project and will help any way I can. I second both shop recommendations. I am in the Cambrian Park portion of San Jose. Let me know the specifics on the tii you are looking for and I will keep my eye out for you. Stuart
  22. So I spoke with my friend that owns the Shaunadega Raceway : http://shaunadega.com/ and got some dates that would work. If we want to do this before the Holiday madness kicks in he says Saturday Oct. 26th or Saturday Nov. 9th. We could do either morning or afternoon. If you are interested please respond back with what day works for you and if morning or afternoon would be better. We need at least 9 drivers and feel free to bring children or your spouse. Depending on the time of day I could work out pizza and some drinks. I will provide the cars and controllers. All you need to do is show up and race. The track is located close to Bernal and 85 in the South Bay. Please call or email me with questions. Stuart skjerven4198@yahoo.com 408-355-4119 Cell We need 8 owners to have a race. Shaun and I would provide the cars and controllers. It's great fun and competition as well as a chance to be a kid for a few hours. I know that many of you owned either HO or 1/32nd scale slots as kids.
