  1. If you're planning to attend either subject event, don't wait 'till the last minute to register. Per a recently received e-mail, there are only 120 spaces left for Vintage. Tickets for the grand opening of the BMW Passion exhibit at the BMW CCA Foundation museum are also going fast--and are limited. If you've not been to either, they're not to be missed. Last year--in the rain--there were nearly 500 BMWs at Vintage, and the museum display was all 2002. This year's display is all about the BMW CCA's 50th anniversary, featuring BMWs and their owners who share the passion of BMW ownership. mike
  2. We currently have seven '02s in our caravan to Eureka Springs, departing Dayton OH Wednesday morning via Cincinnati, Louisville, across KY, down through the NW corner of TN, then crossing the Mississippi and across northern AR to Eureka Springs, with an overnight stop in Paragould AR. If you'd like to join us either at Dayton or en route, we have rendezvous points along the way, and would love to have more '02s in the caravan. PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send details of the route, overnight stop and rendezvous points along the way. It's a fun drive, avoiding as many Interstates as possible and the cameraderie--not to mention mutual support--is priceless. Hope to see you ether en route or at Mid America. cheers mike

  4. It is 10 degrees, and has been for a week, and it is driving me up a wall. Let's talk about a warmer place and time! I am going to be in Los Angeles the last weekend of May for a wedding and was going to fly out a little early to check out the '02 scene. What are the places to get to? I just picked up my first 2002 and between now and my trip I am planning on getting to the Mid America 02 Fest and The Vintage. I am interested in checking out some restoration shops (that might be open to the public) and the like, thoughts? Be my travel guide:) Thanks you, -Rob I am resisting the urge to add In-N-Out and party to "topic tags" haha
  5. Mid America is less than a week away...we have a three car caravan going from Dayton to Eureka Springs, passing through Cincy, Louisville and then on through western KY, TN and across Arkansas via hwy 412 and 62. Departing Dayton Wed morning and overnighting in Paragould AR. If you're interested in joining up en route, drop me a PM. The more the merrier. And for those of you attending....anyone need a worn but still serviceable 185/70 x 13 AVID T4 for a spare? For free? Hate to throw away tires that someone can use. Can bring it to Mid America, just let me know. cheers mike
  6. Who all is going to Minden Nevada next weekend for the High Sierra driving event.
  7. Not the 49 Mile Drive, the BayArea 02 annual rally, appears in San Francisco again on December 10 (2nd Saturday in December). Meet at Ocean Beach between 9 and 9:30 AM across The Great Highway from Beach Chalet on the West end of Golden Gate Park (just like previous years). Fulton St.is the cross street and the entrance to the Ocean Beach parking lot. Following our driver's meeting, we plan to have all cars away by 10:00 AM. After navigating roads throughout San Francisco we will gather again for lunch at a restaurant and review the photos in the handout that each navigator numbered during the rally in the order observed. San Francisco native Beck Diefenbach is our rallymeister again this year. He delights in finding the hidden treasures and beautiful views that reward us for living in the Bay Area, and the unique and interesting paths to get there. Join us for the fun rally, see your friends, learn and enjoy some of San Francisco’s road history and share some BMW tales. We recommend driving with a navigator, so the driver can drive and the crew can give turn instructions and watch for the rally images to number them in viewing order. Solo drivers are also welcome, although there could be a navigator or two available before drivers get underway. If your 02 is under the weather, drive your other BMW on this rally. Kids are welcome to ride along and share lunch! Watch this Forum for the latest details (also see [www.bayarea02.com] and for photos of last year's drive [http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/174801-2015-bay-area-2002-not-the-49-mile-scenic-drive/#entry1079809]) and be sure to mark 10 December on your calendar! Larry Ayers
  8. Is there an official NK picture thread?...if so sorry for the repost...if not then maybe this can be a start (I will rename the thread in that event)
  9. Saw some pictures of subject event on the Collectors Car World website: http://collectorscarworld.com/news/the-petersen-museum/ Prominently pictured among the Ferraris and other exotica was a very pretty squarelight Inka '02. Anyone on the board? There are some really nice shots of the car going up and down the parking garage ramp. cheers mike
  10. As I get closer to leaving for Monterey in a couple of weeks, I'm thinking about the time I will spend there, while not at the track. This is my first time at this event so I'm wondering what do others do? Cruise the town? Walk the town? Bar hop? What about an 02 barbeque? If other 02s are camping at the track maybe a potluck barbeque is in order, say Saturday night. I have a track-side campsite that I'm not using and can't seem to sell so at least I can bring my car into the camping area. Experience, tall tales, and ideas please.
  11. I read here or there about different events going on, like Bay Area swap and show and The Vintage - but does anyone have a running list of events going on throughout the year. Id love to get a thread going with events listed and dates just to get an idea of all the things going on throughout the year.
  12. It is summer time and it is time for Shows and other events. If you are interested in taking a few photos and taking time to write things up, you are welcome to post your articles here. You can either do it in a post, or start a an article from the front page of the site. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/?do=add&category= actually, feel free to write articles for anything '02 or automotive related. I'll create a category for that too. thanks, steve k.

  14. HIGH SIERRA ’02 FEST 2016 SEPTEMBER 9-11, 2016 You are cordially invited to bring your vintage BMW 1600 or 2002 and join us for the second annual High Sierra ’02 Fest to be held again in the beautiful Carson Valley, at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We will begin with a meet and greet on the evening of Friday September 9th, in Minden, Nevada. On Saturday morning we will meet up for a group drive that will take us up into some great driving roads in the nearby mountains. In the afternoon we will gather at historic Mormon Station State Park, in the town of Genoa, for a BBQ, social, car time, and a tech session presented by Jack Fahuna. On Sunday morning an optional drive will take place for those who are interested, with a breakfast stop and opportunities to peel off and head home, along the route. Lodging is available in Minden at the Carson Valley Inn, Holiday Inn Express or several smaller establishments in the Carson Valley or in Carson City, 20 miles to the north. The event is free, and T-shirts (Beefy-T with a nice graphic and no advertising) will be available for $20, by pre-order only. Space is limited, because of the size of our venue, so please contact Ed Blake at [email protected] to confirm your attendance, for more information, or if you would like to reserve a T-shirt. Requests for T-shirts need to be received by August 1, to allow time for delivery.
  15. OK Florida Group, who is interested in this ? http://www.lakemirrorclassic.com/event-info/ Appears to be a pretty quality event. I see a group drive over there, possibly an overnight and if we wanted we could get our own display area. Q: How many cars of a particular marquee need to be registered before we can have our own special display area? A: We need at least 10 registered cars before considering a dedicated group display area. Special display ares are subject to space availability. Although my car is not show quality, I would have no problem displaying it. The Sunday tour would be fun. I hope this event is enough to bring the Florida 02 Group out.
  16. For those of you in the Bay Area group, I'm having a race at my house this saturday night. If anyone is interested in coming and giving it a try let me know. I'm in the Cambrian Park area. Track opens at 7pm with qualifying at 8pm. Here is a photo of the track: Let me know. Stuart
  17. From Frank Greppo, April 28, 2020 Hi All, With great reluctance I must announce that Vintage at Saratoga 2020 has been canceled. It is unsure if New York will be open for business by July and equally important with the current situation it is difficult for us to solicit donations from our friends in the business community. For those of you who have already made reservations, we are working with the Auto Museum to secure refunds for both the show and dinner. At this time the museum is closed and working with a very limited staff, but they have promised to get this done as quickly as possible. Be aware that because of the current situation the museum is in a difficult financial position. They would be more than happy to accept your fees as a donation. If you are willing to donate please respond to this e-mail: [email protected] and I will make it happen. Don’t forget to cancel your reservations at the Roosevelt Inn and Suites (518-584-0980) or the Landmark Motor Inn (518-793-3441) as soon as possible. Stay safe, Frank
  18. Just heard that this year's event, to be held at a very nice resort near Palm Springs, CA, has been canceled. Rats! Was looking forward to the drive out (not in my '02--my lovely wife will barely drive to Cincinnati with me in an '02). However, next year it'll be at Hilton Head in conjunction with the Hilton Head Concours, in early November. And our local concours here in Dayton, normally held in September, was also canceled Still more victims of the pandemic. Has anyone heard about Vintage? Is it still on? mike
