  1. I am considering a set of BBS RZ 14x6.5 rims for my 72. I have been through the very informative "Stance" thread but did not find what I am looking for. Does anyone have these on their car? If so what tire are you running and have you lowered you car? If you have lowered the car, what springs and suspension work was done? Pictures would be very helpful as it's the only way I can get a feel for them as its tough to find local cars with this combination that I can see live. Stuart
  2. Larry - I am checking with my friend on Saturdays in early November that would work for him. I will post them as soon as I have them. Stuart
  3. Is any one in the SF Bay Area group interested in a get together in the South Bay for a slot car race? A good friend of mine owns the Shaunadega Raceway: http://shaunadega.com/ and he would be more than happy to host a race for 02 owners. We need 8 owners to have a race. Shaun and I would provide the cars and controllers. It's great fun and competition as well as a chance to be a kid for a few hours. I know that many of you owned either HO or 1/32nd scale slots as kids. Let me know. Stuart skjerven4198@yahoo.com
  4. Does some one on the board have a picture of a saddle interior - door panels and seats? I'm doing a 72 interior. Thanks, Stuart
  5. Research ...... Looking to do seats, carpet and headliner. Any recommendations? Stuart
  6. Still going back and forth. Has anyone done black door panels, saddle seats front and rear, and tan/brown carpets? If so would you please post a few pictures of it if you have this combination. Thank you, Stuart
  7. Original Customs - I'm looking for a new windshield for my 72 and I'm in San Jose. I will be doing my headliner soon and if the windshield needs to come out to do it then I might as well do the windshield at the same time. Do you still have it? Stuart
  8. Brandon5069 - Where did you get that? Stuart
  9. I owned my last 02 25 years ago and at that time the nozzles on gas pumps were different and you could fill your 02 without too much trouble. Filling my 72 at the pump the other day was a challenge to do without spilling gas and the way in which I did it caused the shut-off on the nozzle not to work so I overflowed the tank. So how does one fill an 02 with the current gas nozzles? Stuart
  10. Project Scope Creep......... It seems that I need to be forward thinking with my "interior" project and plan for speakers. I will not be putting speakers back in the doors. The panels in the link below seem to be a very nice option for front speakers. I have an old set of speakers in the rear deck, hoping they work. http://www.bmw2002fa...-sub-enclosure/ I've seen 1 set of pictures of these in a car and I'd like to see more if anyone else has these installed. It looks very clean. My initial concern is the location. Might these speakers get kicked? Any experience would be a great. Questions: Ease of installation? Potential speaker damage due to the location? Recommended speakers? Not looking for huge sound and they can't break the bank, 5.25" or 6" Stuart
  11. Euro - I am not going to be putting speakers back in the door panels and I am interested in the front speaker mounting location I saw in the link you sent. Since I'm doing the carpets and now is the best time to plan for and install speakers, I would like to talk with you. I can be reached at: skjerven4198@yahoo.com. Stuart
  12. Blunt - Are those complete with the backing and ready to install? So the $250 price, is that at a dealer or another source?
  13. Stevenc22 - What year is your car? World wants $715 each for the correct panels for my 72. Budget killer. Panels for 74 and newer are $143 each. Its looking like Ardvarc will be the cost effective option. They don't have all the silver trim but I've heard good things about them. Stuart
  14. Getting my research done for the interior work for my Chamonix 72. The site and members are very helpful. The current interior is all blue. The front Recaro seats and the rear seat are a strange shade of blue that does not match the factory blue on the door panels. I am considering staying with blue or maybe changing it up and going to saddle. It is just a very rich color. So here is where I am: 1. Will recover the seats front and back with vinyl - Suggestions for a reasonable shop in SF Bay Area? 2. Will do a carpet kit - Esty looks like the best option 3. Door panels and cards - The fronts must go - speaker holes. The rears can stay if I stay blue. Question----On the door panels I have found them available from Aardvarc and World. Is there anyone else? Aardvarc - Nice looking panels and a reasonable price but they do not have the silver trim. World - Same as above, more pricey and they have the silver trim. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Stuart
  15. As soon as I get the cars built and painted, I will try and pull together 02 owners in the San Jose Bay Area for an IROC race on this track. In the mean time, if any local owners want to give it a try there is a standing offer of a car and controller ready to go for you. The bald guy in lane 1 is me. The green and yellow Cities Chevy Lumina in lane 1 is mine. Took pole and won the A Main flag to flag going away. https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v=10200723138222796&set=vb.1291997127&type=2&theater For those of you that say this is off topic, very sorry. I get my car back this weekend and I promise to try and stay on topic then. Stuart
  16. So I misspoke when I said tan. What I am considering is the factory color which I think is called "Saddle" and apparently over the years it was offered in a couple shades. I pulled the info below from another post. 1. 66-early 68 1600s used a chocolate brown vinyl--not sure if it was used on even the early 2002s... 2. 68-sometime in late 71 early 72 US 2002s used a mottled tan/brown vinyl. 3. late 71/early 72-end of 73 production--a lighter, more caramel colored tan, in a single shade. What I am looking for are pictures of a Chamonix with a Saddle interior. It would be a complete interior color change as the car currently has the stock blue. Stuart
  17. Still considering interior color. Has anyone done a tan interior on a Chamonix car? Would like a picture or two if any one has done this. Pretty sure that 72s only had blue or black as the factory options so this would be a change. Stuart
  18. K - My track and my friend's track are in south SJ. We run on Saturday nights. My friend is running next Saturday night. Here is the url for his track: http://shaunadega.com/ . We run NASCAR at his track. I won the last race. Took pole and went flag to flag out front. The car was fast and on rails. For any race you come to at my track or my friend's, I will have a fresh race ready car built for you and a controller. We take care of anyone that comes to race! It will take a while to get the 02s together. I have the chassis. I just need to get the bodies fitted and painted. Stuart
  19. Algon - These are not mine. I believe this one is done by a guy in the UK. Mine were done by a friend. It does look like it's cast from the same Hot Wheels diecast. This one fits a tjet chassis. I am trying to fit the same casting to a tyco chassis. We'll see. It looks like you are in the SF Bay Area as well and your car is a Chamonix like mine. What year is your 02? Mine is a 72. If I get a race together on my track or my friend's, would you be interested? Trying to rally some local owners for a race. On my 4 lane road course track we need 7 racers/owners. On my friend's 6 lane trioval, 10 racers/owners. We'll see. Stuart

  22. Now the challenge will be to clean them up and make them fit on a Tyco chassis. Paint and decals will cover most of the imperfections in the casting. Any one know of a good site where I can get shots of several racing 02s in different paint jobs? Since my car is off having work done this is my substitute wrenching. Stuart
  23. OM MY!!!! I would love for you to record and post the sound of that motor!
  24. I'm researching stance options for my 72. I've been through the "stance" thread which has been very helpful. My debate as I decide on ride height is level vs "nose down". In looking through the stance thread I see several cars that sit with the front being slightly lower creating what I call a nose down stance. I am leaning towards this over level and I'm wondering how this was achieved? Was it done through tire and wheel size difference, spring length, spacers or something else? Or am I just in need of new glasses? Spike
