    Modified VW Roof Rack

That look great! How much does it weigh? I also have a rack that I modified.
  2. I have a roof rack on my '72 and I think it looks really cool but, it also makes a lot of wind noise during freeway driving. It doesn't help your mpg's either. Things to consider.
  3. I'm curious how much weight are you saving by not using MDF?
  4. I've been following your blog, and you've done an amazing job in a short amount of time. Inspiration to all of us trying to finish our projects.
  5. Fantastic! Did you raid your 401K for this project? Great videos documenting your progress.
  6. I would be interested if dasfrogger passes on the carpet.
  7. Is it possible to reverse the choke linkage? I'm having the same issues.
  8. The instrument cluster looks good with the white overlay. What's going on with the speedometer needle? Looks like a little bit of a curve in it.

  10. Ken is building my engine as we type. He's a goodfella.
  11. I'm looking for a crankshaft for a rebuild on my m10.
  12. The second rod back is looser than your cheating ex-girlfriend.
  13. If you have a picture of the car you're trying to sell, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

RussTii 33 Advanced Member Members 33 407 posts Posted October 12, 2013 · Report post It can be done on the M10 with the engine still in the car, assuming you have a normal oil pan and can jack up the engine enough to work the pan out between the block and subframe. Then changing the rod bearing is no big deal. Before attempting, loosen or remove engine mounts, trans mounts, loosen or remove exhaust at the flange, remove distributor or at least the cap, remove carb linkage, check for hose or wiring binds, radiator hoses, etc. If you suspect rod bearing problems oil starvation generally gets journal # 3 first, whereas numbers 1, 2 and 4 don't seem as susceptible to damage in my experience.
  15. Knocking sound while shifting into second gear and gets louder under acceleration. Maybe a rod bearing, is it accessible by removing the pan? TIA, Oliver.
  16. Driving the N. 605 fwy and the car overheated. The gauge went to about 3/4 the way up. I pulled over and turned it off. I let it cool down. When I started it back up it now has a knocking sound. Now I'm having AAA tow it to the shop. Waiting for the tow truck in the Denny's parking lot.
