I have a pair of front cloth Recaro seats, which from what I can tell are the LX-C model because they have the seat base length adjustment up front (but don't quote me on that!). They do not have the sliding seat bases, only the seats themselves. However, all plastic parts are intact and functioning; the only damage to any plastic component is one of the adjuster wheels has a small piece broken out of the grip area, but the wheel as a whole is still intact and functioning. Both seats have identical knobs and levers for tilt on both sides of the seats, so technically they can be used on either driver or passenger side equally. One seat has more wear than the other as seen in photos, and the fabric on the worst one (original driver's seat I assume) has a patch on the base and on one side bolster. I'm located in Denver, CO, and I would prefer to not have to attempt shipping due to the prohibitive cost. I listed them at $400 for the pair, which seems fair based on some internet research, but please feel free to make an offer if you have a better sense of what they are worth.

I am having my seats redone, and asked the folks to send me back what was removed. Original vinyl, pretty much gone, the backs of both seat are good, and the side upper bolsters have the BMW logo on them. Lower seat bolsters, sort of OK, one was already replaced, so that vinyl is likely a little different. that one headrest is torn, Good for repairs to existing seats, or for pattern making. let me know what you are interested in, best for someone local to the Seattle area, vs the cost of shipping. all for $100, or will part out, Not suitable for complete seat recovering without substantial $, so go to World Upholstery where they can make you a new set for $1000 (without headrests) using original BWM vinyl (they say). ,

The new Hottness - Say Hello to the 1969
sprout1600itb posted a blog entry in Resto-mod of a '69 1602
So, I went to Burlingame. I was amazed. I took it to Beamers in Redwood City had the PPI done. I paid cash. A week later the Dr. dropped the car off to me in San Jose. It's a 1969 1602 that wasn't exactly original, but it was in great shape. Someone had done the conversion of the engine to a 1974 bottom end and a 1980 121T head (seems like a rather odd choice for this car, but it seems to work, if anyone has info on that specific head, I would welcome knowledge...I've heard they aren't exactly common heads). [Photo attached.] This car moves in a way that no other 02 I've driven has moved, -
Been looking for some time and these popped up. Another tick for my checklist Really happy with the condition, unsure if Ill even re-cover Better start focusing on the car now or there will be nothing to put all the good stuff in

I've had a couple of questions about the seat upholstery on my project car, so I'll provide some additional details... First of all, the car came to me with a set of VW GTI Mk2 Recaros installed. I immediately loved the size and support of the seats, but the blue velvet just wasn't quite the look I had in mind. 😉 Given all the work ahead, it seemed kind of silly to target the seats as one of the first pieces to complete, but it really helped me "anchor" the rest of my choices. I spend some time looking around online for options to refurbish with specialists, but I wasn't lookin

Some of the other parts I've collected for my "restoversion" of my 1968 1600-2. Picked up these custom 15" MIM wheels from the buy/sell section of the forum as the owner was upgrading to BBS basketweaves. I think the gunmetal centers and polished lips will work well with the Etna blue and provide a slightly more modern look as this is certainly not going to be a "period" correct restoration. I got a chance to check them out on chargin's car in the BMW corral at the historics at Laguna Seca before they got swapped and sent to me. It was great speaking with Garry, who answered a

Seats Another small update, but progress is progress so I'll take it. Wish I took more photos of the brackets specifically, but I suppose they aren't much to look at. I started off by restrapping the drivers side seat. Mk2 VW Recaros use a sling style support under the cushion to hold you up. My drivers seat sling had fallen apart, and was poorly repaired. I converted it over to this sling style support using the stock hardware. Let me be the first to say, holy shit this sucks to do. The actual metal bars it sits on are pretty flimsy, and these are obviously very strong elastic, so

Parts Collecting Things have been slow with the 2002, it's taken a lot longer to get in parts then I had anticipated. Not many big updates in this post, mostly just parts collecting. The first guy I had arranged to trade hubs with flaked out, and it took a few weeks to find someone willing to sell me a set. Fortunately they have arrived. I also have all new wheel bearings ready to go when it's time to do the swap. I've also ordered all new brake components, including braided hoses. Figured I might as well upgrade while I'm in there. My R

This was a SCCA Track night in america event at Portland International Raceway. There was three 20 min sessions and this is from the last. I was pushing my car harder during the last race, and I had a lot of fun. My 2nd gear is going out so I tried not to shift down, but every so often I'd shove it in there. It needs a few more tuning sessions as the new carbs were very recently installed. I am driving my daily 1974 BMW 2002 that has a dual Weber 40 DCOE, long tube 4-1 headers, stainless exhaust, and a few other things that you can find out on my wheelwell page.

I am in the Denver area and looking for a set of E21 Recaro seats. If anyone has a line on some please let me know.

E21 Recaro seat foam and vinyl pair - $50 1974 rear seat vinyl - $40 SOLD Local pick up in San Francisco or you pay shipping. Front Seats - selling all of the parts from the front pair as a package. The vinyl is original to the seats. They started out as tan and then dyed black before I got them. Some areas still show tan where there was more wear or if it was hidden from view. All foam pieces are included except for the headrests. Passenger side: foam bolsters and vinyl in good condition. Driver side: Upper and lower left bolsters are very worn, the right side bolsters still in good shape. The vinyl over the left bolsters are torn and are now taped up with black duct tape. The foam in the center back is just a generic foam pad the previous owner cut to size. Rear Seat Vinyl - these came out of my 1974 02, originally black. I believe these are original to my car. In good shape, no rips or holes. There's a spot of blue touch up paint on the seat close to the back and you can't see it when it's installed.

Hi, Finally decided to sell my old Recaros. I pulled them out of my 2002 Tii back in the 80's when I went rallying in it ..... I wish I still had the car but it didn't survive the abuse sadly. These are extremely rare and I always dreamed of finding a nice '02 to put them in to one day. However, time is in short supply and I've too many other projects on the go. Included are the adjustable Recaro sliders, One of them is missing the plastic knob but the other has the knob with the Recaro emblem on it. Also included are the 2 tilt mechanisms which attach the seats to the original '02 mounting points. (The head restraints are shown fully retracted. They do extend up on 2 chrome pins.) They are in the UK so the price doesn't include shipping. They are advertised in the UK too. Here's a link to an old post on this forum about a similar pair: These would be a nice addition to any '02 restoration. Cheers, Ian.

My 73tii has e21 Recaros which need to be repaired and reupholstered. I have found a good auto upholstery shop locally who can do it, especially when they saw the photos and recognized that the e21 and 79-82 Mustangs had basically the same Recaro seat option. So, I have new padding, hog rings and tool coming in from CJPony, BMW Basket weave Vinyl for the Center and the bottom straps and hooks from Aardvarc. We will have to repair and weld the bent driver's seat back bucket which we can do. (Probably will want to reinforce same points on the passenger seat frame.) I managed to lose an old thread on this. Does anyone have a thread or a site discussing the repair of wayward Recaros? I will make a photo essay of this for the reference section.

NO AFFILLIATION: CL Seattle: https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/d/redmond-87-golf-mk2/6779053584.html Guy is selling/parting out a MK2 1987 Golf. Has a pair of seats from a scirocco. They look suspiciously Recaro like. I am not sure if Recaro's were standard equipment in Scirocco's, but..... He is asking $200!!! Also has some BBS wheels, 4X100. But I think the offset would require some large spacers for fitment on a 2002. I already have my Recaro's and no time or ability to travel Northward.. If someone snags these seats and they are Recaro's, somebody owes me a beer.....

Hi All, Curious if anyone may have a lead on a source for a small bit of this fabric. I've been searching to no avail! Any lead appreciated. Fabric is from Recaro Rallye II seats, circa the '70s. Thank you in advance! ~Jason

UPDATED WITH CORRECT MODEL INFORMATION I have a pair of barely used BF Torino front seats, with matching rear seat covers, which I removed from my 1974 Turbo for the sake of authenticity when I found a pair of Rentrop seats in Germany. These are high quality new production seats in the style of early 70's Recaros manufactured by a highly regarded shop in Torino, Italy. They have adapter plates for mounting to the OEM seat track holes on 2002's. The seats have their own seat tracks with a towel bar release, bypassing the stock 2002 paddle. Seat back dump is by another towel bar on the back of the seats. The seats are covered in black vinyl with basketweave style perforated inserts. New price from BF Torino is 1514.36 EUR ($1728 at current exchange rates) including shipping from Italy for the front seats alone. http://shop.bf-torino.com/bf-autositze/lemans-b82-leatherette-basket-weave-black.html These are popular with the early Porsche 911 crowd, too, but I wanted to give my people a chance first... DM with questions. Local pickup (Ventura County, California) is the most practical.
