  1. i buy Ebay boss kits. They are garbage and always need simple modification to work, so i message the seller saying i'm not happy and get a refund without having to send the crappy boss kit back. (i've done this twice from different Asian sellers) I had to make a horn contact for the one i'm currently using in my '02 for a Nardi wheel, using a small bolt with a spring pushing it in one direction.
  2. That looks like a really good tool. Oh well, i already bought a Lisle one. Thanks for all the advice guys, i think i'll have it covered now!
  3. correct! Thanks guys. The rear seal would be the original one, so after 38 years of australian sun it's probably quite stiff. We are in summer so I could just wait for the next 35˚C (95˚f) day to have a go at it. When i order my new front windshield, i'll ask the glass-guys about the tools they have. I know they have them, but the profiles might be wrong. I searched W&N but couldn't find a tool, does anybody have a link for me?
  4. I bought enough of chrome windshield trim to do both front and rear windows. I also bought a new OEM windshield seal (via Blunt) in preparation for replacement of my front windshield. I just got done putting the trim in the windshield seal (the manuals i have say that it should be installed before the glass...) and i'd like to replace the brown and cracked trim in the rear windshield too. I know how much they improve the look of the car! Can this be done with the seal installed? I replaced the trim on a MK1 Golf with the seal/glass installed using a tool i made out of a coat-hanger, but the shape of the BMW lock strip is a lot different and i don't see how i could make a tool to suit. I'd really rather not remove the rear window unless i absolutely have to! Any help would be appreciated, even a link to a tool i could buy. TIA - Jace (search tags: windshield wind shield windscreen screen glass seal lock strip lockstrip gasket trim )
  5. i'm sure dynamics don't matter much when you're driving a monster truck
  6. dry ice is generally a more efficient way of removing insulating tar, it freezes it solid and can be chipped off in chunks. good luck with the project!
  7. that's funny about the apostrophe... perhaps the forum doesn't care for punctuation? I also can't view page 13 of Heist's build thread. each time i click 13 or 'next' i just get "no posts exist for this topic"
  8. I can't see page 13 this is such an epic build though.
  9. it hardly looked like it needed repainting at all!
  10. that'd be good mate. email me at jace.bird (at) hotmail.com (pretty sure the forum email system doesn't work for me)
  11. holy crap, a 2002 with a ragtop! that's awesome!
  12. i remembered seeing more than one so i dug these up. nothing spesh photography wise but they're still relevant
  13. I'm after as-new lenses for the rear license plate lights mounted to the bumper on a late model car also after an Automatic badge for the rear left side, just above the tail light. I'll need postage to Geelong, VIC Australia 3215 as well. Please PM me. - Jace
  14. hey guys i've been getting a heap of bugs since signing up. just now i couldn't post a WTB thread. Occasionally the forum freezes up for me and won't reload any pages.
  15. Slightly different mounting spots apparently! There's a few extra holes behind the badge and one or two that have been plugged. If anybody has an "Automatic" badge they could ship me in Australia, please PM me. Not much news to report, I've been trying to get the car running and driving perfectly. Cleaned the wheel arches today just for something to do while i wait on parts to arrive. (note: ill-fitting speed bleeders are temporary) I'm restoring 3 sets of wheels at once at the moment, one of which might make their way onto the BMW.
  16. The E38 wheels look perfect on E30's. top marks dude.
  17. very nice. good to see you're straight into it. where in Melbourne are you from?
  18. i have no idea about the badge, i'm new to 02's and i don't have an Australian dealership brochure for them. with the dealership fitted sunroof and an FM radio i'm really not sure how this car came into existence. my other car is a Mazda MX5/Miata so i know all about cars made for driving
  19. Hi guys, I've been slack with the car but it's back on the road now! BMW 2002 by Jace B., on Flickr It's on Club Rego via my local car club. Still a few things to sort out for a full rego, like a new windscreen and fix the spare wheel well rust, and fix the erratic speedo (it's gone completely mental!). BMW 2002 by Jace B., on Flickr I got a 390mm Nardi Classic steering wheel for it because i think standard BMW steering wheels from the 70's and 80's are hideous! I also discovered that the car has air-shocks in the back, which when pumped up, raise the car by a good inch! the car sits lower on the drivers side for some reason but that will be sorted out with a healthy lowering in the future. cheers - Jace
  20. holy fabrication. please feel free to saturate this thread with as many pictures as you'd like!
  21. Thanks guys. Looks like it is Mintgrün, thanks Tommy! Google search suggests that the colour might have a few variations, but as you said - pictures can lie.
  22. Hi everybody. My name is Jace and i'm from Melbourne, Australia BMW 2002 by Jace B., on Flickr I bought this '75 2002 a little over a week ago not running. The guy i bought it off had purchased it from the original owner (a little old lady) about 6 years ago, and taken it straight off the road for an engine rebuild. It has a dealership fitted sunroof, hence the white vinyl roof. it's a 3spd auto, other than that it's a basic 2002 with the only rust spot being the spare wheel well. Is there a place to buy replacement weld-in panels? I bought it with: - 'Refreshed' top and bottom end (new bearings and rings, same pistons, rods, valves etc.) - New waterpump, timing chain tensioners/guides, oil pump stuff blah blah) - Rebuilt brake boosters - Rebuilt and jetted Weber 32/36 DGAV - New pads and rotors - Rebuilt steering box - New pitman arm - Rebuilt driveshafts This week I: - Ported the top of the intake manifold for the new carb - Assembled the rest of the engine - Sorted the cooling system (i think...) - Resealed the fuel tank with POR-15 products I (finally) got the car all assembled and driving today. Here's a few pics for proof. Le 2002! by Jace B., on Flickr Progress by Jace B., on Flickr It drives! by Jace B., on Flickr I'll be updating with my progress soon. Still a few kinks to iron out and a lot of tidying to be done. - Jace
