  1. i like the beige it's proper vintage
  2. it's wierd, because i don't have foglights, but i do have the "foglight" switch on the dash which does nothing at the moment haha maybe i should put in a fake button that says "EJECT"? =)
  3. hey guys i tried to search this but haven't found the answer yet. i am finally putting together my center console again after getting a replacement faceplate, and everything is lovely, except i can't figure out WTF that extra "button" is supposed to be on the right-hand side of the console. my car didn't come with anything there- just a hole. can someone tell me whats going on here? thanks =) pic related- it's my crappy old console faceplate which has since been scrapped...
  4. hey man!! sorry for the delay, i've been away. i will call you tomorrow morning. i actually need a few more things too thanks brother oh and yeah you do have the same addiction! your widebody project is going to be sick
  5. So I've had my "dream car" since early January. Lots of work needed-- but I have already gathered 96% of the pieces I need and am slowly putting her together in my spare time. My car runs and drives 100% with no issues other than cosmetic, and by summer end my paint and welding will finish her up. What I thought was going to be a 2-3 year process of a slow rebuild has actually been cut short, so by september or so I will already be "finished". Now, my thoughts are turning to the desire to buy ANOTHER ONE, just to have it. I can't explain it but the only other vintage car I want is a pre-67 VW split window bus, which is going for far too much money these days and are almost unobtainable where I live. So now I feel the need to save someone else's neglected 02 project and have that in the stable too. I will probably spend more money next time on one that doesn't have as many issues as mine just to make it easier. Has anyone else caught the "must buy more than one" bug??
  6. I sent you an email about the seat bottoms- didn't hear back yet?
  7. I have been a musician for many years, mostly in punk bands when I was young. Now I play in a 60-s era surf style band called The Brigantines on the side for fun. Kinda like The Ventures or something.... The bassist owns an 83 633csi and we work on the cars in addition to the band. If you guys want to hear the stuff we have free downloads at our website www.thebrigantines.com I also work for Bang & Olufsen and collect vintage audio equipment a little, and that's about it Great thread idea OP
  8. I wish we had more 2002s in NJ. I only know one other person with one in the whole state. I should move to SF haha
  9. not sure as it was in a box of "free parts" that the prior owner of my car gave me with purchase. i will try to get a photo of it tonight and post up. if i recall it looks exactly like my 76 door cards. check back tomorrow!
  10. hey, you're the guy who has the build thread on the Car Lounge, right?? nice...
  11. Good condition, intact metal, not bad. I will try to get a picture tomorrow up on here. FREE. Just paypal 20 bucks for shipping email direct at scottsainthilaire at gmail dot com
  12. like the title states, i am in need of a black back seat, either top or bottom. i actually dont need the frame-- just the black vinyl cover. my front 2 seats have rips in the middle and i am looking for a back seat piece to use the material from to repair my fronts. i am going to have an upholstery place use the material as replacement butt sections. no rips and clean if possible. anyone??
  13. aaaahh.. the "other" old BMW i am fascinated with. those are the coolest!
  14. Looks like SiennaBraun, same car as mine. Except that one seems to be pretty clean and in much better shape than mine. Very nice. I actually hated that color but it has grown on me now...
  15. I like that idea - did not see dimensions on that thing. looks cool. I would want to mess with it and hear it before buying! well, i work for bang & olufsen, so i have about 4 sitting right here in front of me. its slightly smaller than a car battery. sounds amazing! i have some friends that specialize in vintage VW restoration, and one of them has made a self-contained ipod playback system enclosed in a vintage suitcase that plugs into the lighter for power. it sits on the back seat and looks period-correct. open it up, and there is your system. when closed it just looks like a 1963 suitcase inside a 1963 car. pretty slick.
  16. Go for it! Not very common cars... I've seen only about 5 in my life. But very awesome cars. Only thing is, it's a dreadful automatic I wonder if they're as easy to throw a manual at as a 2002. It also says "minimal rust"...What's that supposed to mean? o.O yeah i have a feeling that would strictly be a "putting around" car. performance mods are probably non-existent haha. the only thing putting me off is that i doubt i could find any parts for it locally. i've already been through most of the junkyards in NJ looking for 02s (none!) and i havent seen any volvos earlier than 85-ish so it might be a nightmare trying to do any work on it. tempting though!
  17. i used to have a white 85 240 wagon that i got for 500 bucks. used it for 2 years before the tranny finally shit the bed. loved that car. i have actually been toying with the idea of buying this lately- its a 73 but seems clean: http://allentown.craigslist.org/cto/2835835031.html
  18. The plugs are no longer available new from BMW, unfortunately. You can find them used, but they tend to be a bit pricey. thanks! i will keep an eye out for some in the meantime this stylish houndstooth duct tape solves the issue =)
  19. i use them. 84 bucks a year!! great service and friendly people. my friend is into vintage american (53 chevy, 67 chevy, 76 chevy) and he has used them for years and recommended me when i got my 02. now i havent had accidents and i havent filed a claim, so i dont know what they will be like if my car gets totalled or in an accident. but so far so good. mine is insured for the low NADA retail value ($6250)
  20. well, i will spill the beans a little here, but this is my plan for an in-car radio: http://www.beoplay.com/?gclid=CMP1p6zR6a4CFQFgTAodciH8Ig its got an 8-hour battery, and also hooks up to regular power in a home. i just need to figure out a way to get power to it (i guess via the cig lighter socket) and i have to figure out a small mounting platform for it. the idea is to use it when i drive the car, and then remove it and use it for a day at the beach, etc.
