  1. I want that roof rack ! looks great... Details?
  2. +1 These guys are great. Whoops, I forgot one small detail about American Collectors- you have to show that you have another car for a daily. I just had to put down that I own an Audi A3 and put my main insurance policy number on the application for American. They didn't ask for photos of the Audi or proof of my garage (which i do have) or anything else, it was pretty straightforward.
  3. I use American Collectors. 89 dollars a year, no BS. All I had to do was state that the car was garaged and send them two photos of the car. And that's it. My friend restores American cars and has about 6 autos on a policy with them. Works for me!!
  4. Oh yeah? Thats awesome Sylvio! I'll have to ask you a few questions about it when I see you.
  5. BTW nice avatar OP! my band is endorsed by Orange, and I actually sold an Orange full stack last year and used the money to buy my 02. I play mostly Mesa and Gibson
  6. I'm almost finished with my tan-to-black interior swap and it's coming out great! looks nice with the brown. I'll post up pics soon
  7. hola my brothers just wanted to report back on this one, and I have solved it. my friend Aaron and I got to it last night. sure enough both bolts were rusted in place and just kept spinning and spinning. my grill was so mangled, we just ripped it off by hand since there was no salvaging it. then we had to use a grinder to cut the bolts off. to reinstall the new one, we used "speed clips" AKA those metal folded over tabs that don't require a bolt. they are actually similar to the ones that are used to screw in the large main black front grills. we put two large ones over the holes, and then used new screws that had bolt heads. used a flat wrench to tighten them up and the grill is good as new. this makes getting it back on and off again a breeze. sorry for the lack of photos of the process but here you go: getting in there: all buttoned up with the new-ish grill:
  8. Lets play a game, it’s called Guess My Weber: I need to get this thing rebuilt as it is leaking like a bitch. A vintage VW tech I sometimes use for things said it’s a Weber Progressive. Can any of you identify it from the photo, is it a 32/36? If anyone has a definitive answer please let me know. I need to order a rebuild kit and get this running right. Thanks!
  9. hey man sent you an email about the center console, passenger side rocker metal strip, and seat belts for the front.
  10. hey guys i bought 2 rear wheel well panels and 2 lower trunk panels for my rust removal project, turns out i only needed two of them, so these other two are not needed. these are a pain in the ass to track down. i waited over 3 months to get these from germany! solid quality and ready to use. i will take 50 dollars each (shipping included) for either one, or 90 dollars for the set. paypal only. email me at scottsainthilaire at gmail dot com or reply here if you are interested. NOTE these are for the DRIVERS SIDE LOWER TRUNK AREA and the PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL here are some photos:
  11. Since the OP asked for photos- here are some recent pics of mine which is about to be prepped for serious body work and a full re-spray. Mind you that this car consists of at least 5 colors right now: 1. Original factory Siennabraun 2. Rust 3. Failed repaint in OEM Siennabraun by PO 4. Failed clearcoat from the repaint described above, and 5. Flat brown Rustoleum primer that was just put on in spots to protect the vulnerable areas as they get treated for repair. Ive got all my patch panels and a great condition spare drivers door ready to be put on, welded, and painted up. In this last pic, on the extreme left, you can see the original Siennabraun. It looks very faded worn out though, so the best representation is the right-hand side which is the repainted section with clearcoat that is still in OK condition:
  12. 1. Need to hear the story of how you were reunited with the car 2. What's the story with the picture of a chicken on a BBQ above haha!?!?
  13. i originally hated this color, but when i was looking for a 2002 it was the only one that i could find at the time. now that i am almost done with my resto and getting ready to re-paint the car, i am definitely going to do the respray in this correct color for two reasons: 1. its easier because everything will match, and 2. that color is starting to come back like others have said above- a lot of Audi and BMWs are coming in brown now. also, it has that hip correct 70s flavor to it. if i had the choice, i would have gotten a white car. but i have learned to love it.
  14. okay great, thanks Joe! Fingers crossed it will work out.
  15. Thanks brother, I will try that after I get out of work and see what happens. I looked all over it yesterday but didn't see any holes on the post. I will have to try harder. Appreciate it!
  16. Great idea! Wish I had thought of that earlier myself. I replaced my entire rear license plate frame because it was rusted to hell and both light covers were cracked and old. I got a good condition used complete assembly and swapped it out, but then I threw away the old parts as I didn't think there was a way to refurb them. Very nice
  17. I dont get any loud "pops", but I do get some slight gurgle-ing on decel. It's pretty subtle so I never investigated it. I also have a brand new ANSA exhaust on it so I doubt there are leaks. Is it a single loud pop? Or more like I described above? EDIT: I am running the ANSA exhaust, pertronix, weber 32/36.
  18. Hey guys, Sorry for the dumb question- I dont have my repair manual handy, and I need to get my front door cards off. I see how to remove the arm rest, I know that the plastic cover on the window crank lever pops off and you can unscrew it from there, but how do you get the "knob" crank off that opens and closes the little triangle window? Anyone? Thanks in advance
  19. I live about 10 minutes from there and have never seen another 2002 around like that. I did see a mint-condish dark red one in Summit where I work a few weeks back though. I would bring mine to that cruise night but it's not in show condition haha
  20. ^are you Michael? sold to someone named Michael who emailed me first.
  21. Hey guys: I am just about done with my tan-to-black interior conversion, and the only thing from my old tan set worth salvaging is the pair of rear door cards. These are in very good condition with non-warped cardboard. One has a few small tiny cracks in the vinyl, but they are both presentable and almost mint. No ashtrays or top silver mounting strips. How about 50 dollars including shipping for anywhere in the US? Interested parties reply here or email scottsainthilaire at gmail
  22. Just wondering how you recovered your center console? Weren't they all originally black? Is that a wood finish? more pics! I have the same console so I'm interested
