    What a exciting project. I looked into this same motor for my car and saw that Motec could support it but wasn’t brave enough to try and figure out the fitment. Excited to follow along!

    Hi Guys, Today I started going through my bin of parts and was making a pile of things to send off for plating and had a couple of questions that came up while looking at stuff. 1. Roundie Bulb Housings How are you guys restoring these. I have two sets but based on how the electrical connections are on the back and non removable it doesn’t look like you could plate them. 2. Headlight housings are you guys sending these to be plated or just painting them? I was planning on playing but on looks mount it has the original paint on it. 3. Steering Column. I was able to get this taken down but it appears there is no way to remove the silver metal box that hold the ignition switch. Is there a trick to remove this? Or are you just just painting everything? 4. Lastly any recommendations of companies that refurbish switches? Thanks in advance for any help!

    I just had lizardskin sprayed in mine. They make both a ceramic and non ceramic version. not sure how well it works but one of the Porsche builders I know highly recommended it.

    After the car completed its transformation with Paul at The Son Of Cobra, the car got moved across town to Ronin Autowerks where Matt worked with me to get some mods to the body completed. First up was a weld in roll bar. Matt and the team at Ronin build the bolt in roll bars for IE so they already have the roll bars down. I asked for some customization as I wanted it tied into the rear strut towers for additional stiffness. Originally the plan was to do a roll bar with an X-brace but at the last minute I decided it was over kill and since this car is all about weight loss I figured it wasn't needed. Mocked Up: After the roll bar was completed Matt and his crew did a full stitch weld on the body and then moved on to the pedal box. We ended up going with a Tilton set up and E30 accelerator. Matt installed a steering column on the car to get the pedals as center as possible, and built out some custom floor boards as well to raise up heels slightly Next step is back to Bart at the Resto Shop for final body work and paint.

    I’m going through this currently. I was able to pick up a S14 with a brand new Evo Crank for $11k. The motor had a spun rod bearing and needed a rebuild. Here is my break down so far: -$1,200 for CP Pistons 94.5mm -$1,200 for arrow rods -$1,200 for Evo Crank Bearings (had to source out of Europe as none of the US BMW parts suppliers could provide them) -$350 for OEM factory 2.5L head gasket (again sourced out of Europe) -$1,200 New timing chain, guide rails and tensioners -$700 new OEM water pump -$2-3,000 for labor (estimated)

    Hi Guys, Does anyone know of a 1pc shorty rear bumper? I know IE makes the fiberglass one but was hoping to find a chrome one without seems straps (fully smooth).
