  1. Approaching the finish line on the rear suspension. Does anything stand out that I need to address before bolting it up? I cleaned an inch of red Georgia clay off the top side of the subframe before sending off for powder coat. I saw that many had done a dark grey when refinishing there’s. Once I got down to the original color on mine, I saw that It was black so kept it there - it also matches the front that I had recently done.
  2. Hmm, interesting, what do you do to stop that? My car was having a clunk when in reverse backing up a steep hill. I’m doing a total front and rear job so think the clunk will stop but wondering what it could be.
  3. I just did the front end last month. To me, it appeared that the bottom concave washer is a grease/dust sealer for the bearing. When I took the old one off, that washer was not present but the bearing was sealed. Car drove fine btw. I installed a new strut bearing unit and it was not sealed so I ordered the concave washer. As your strut does not seem to accommodate that washer, are you sure that it’s sitting all the way down in the tube? I needed to remove a good amount of debris from the bottom to get my shock to sit all the way down.
  4. WHAT? Made in China and it’s not top quality??
  5. Here is mine that I ordered from Car Bone. my car was produced 9 days before yours btw. The weights are different, why is that Steve?
  6. I’ve never done this, I figured I could install the brake cable before screwing the back plate in if I needed to, when I get to that point, it will all be Much easier without the hub on. As to the spring, Just looked at the blue book and you are correct! Wonder why?
  7. I’m in the process of doing a complete restore on the rear suspension. Putting the bitch spring back on is so much easier when it’s off the car! Actually got to use the slot on the plate the way it was designed to get the spring behind it.
  8. On a 2002, the size of the insert is the same for a Tii or regular.
  9. Already sold out? Last time this happened, they would push the date back by 2 months every 2 months for 3 years.
  10. Finished the front end a couple weeks ago - time for the rear! Got every thing off and disassembled. Going all the way with new bearings, total refresh on the half shafts, new guibo, center bearing etc. after getting 50 years of dirt and red clay off the subframe, it appears that mine was originally painted black. I’ve seen a lot dark grey when folks put color on. I’m heading to the powder coater and going with black - it will match the front.
  11. OK - Cool summary - so give me a Bottom Line. Which of the currently available units should be used to get the original feel?
  12. Thanks, is this what your referring to? So it's filling the gaps of the mounts and making the mount solid?
  13. Thanks guys, Full disclosure..... the unused solid mount was in the large parts stash that I got with the purchase of the car (Steve saw the boxes). So I’m wondering how much do those 2 mounts effect the ride? I’ve kept everything else rubber. Is it worth buying the stock mounts for an old man ride?
  14. I’m going to overhaul my rear suspension now that I’ve completed the front (with mostly rubber). It looks like there are 2 options for the rubber support for the axle. 33331103926 - https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/rubber-support-for-rear-axle-fits-for-left-and-right-and-for-all-models-and-years-of-manufacturing-33-18-09.html 33333400444 - https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/rubber-support-motorsport-version-solid-rubber-unit-fits-for-left-and-right-and-for-all-models-33-18-09.html What are the differences between these? Street use, not the track.
  15. I was able to get a course sanding disk all way down the tube to get the rust etc off, also needed to tap at the bottom with a long tube and compressed air to loosen up the debris down there. There can't be any of the weld bead that sticks out beyond the cylinder of the shock or won't fit down. It's amazing their QC is so bad! On the bright side, my car feels great now that I've completed the whole front end!
  16. The problem I have with so many of these frames is that they’re designed for the stickers going up top as is common up north. As yours shows, in GA, lower right should be visible. Very cool frame!
  17. Shifter rebuild time!! Wow, what a difference, I always knew where the gears were, now my car knows too!!!
  18. I tried to placer orders with 3 different places and they all sent the R version. Sent them all back. I was finally able to find enough to last me.
  19. Yes, that’s what mine was like as well. The Aluminium piece is L shaped and there was room to put rivets down into the box as well.
  20. https://prdesignsf.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Fheater-valve-mount-reinforcement-kit Check this out, easy repair. Just did mine and that looks very familiar.
  21. All new bolts so lost the yellow - I need to look at the originals to see if anything was left!
  22. Washers changed. There was tiny hairline crack on that mount that I had reinforced. What else should be done?
