  1. Turnout for the first annual Seattle Labor Day (or thereabouts) Meet-Up and Drive was unprecedented... Mine is the red one. Eventually another faq'er arrived... We got our ducks in a row... And decided to head a few blocks down to the Ballard Locks. Seriously it was just tron and myself and we only drove about five miles, but we must have talked on a range of subjects for about an hour and a half. Well worthwhile. My uncle ran that drawbridge in the background for as long as I can remember until he finally retired.
  2. Count me in. Eric. four two five five zed one seven one eight four. Verona Squarie.
  3. Aren't you a skater? I've been meaning to check out the Woodinville skate park for a few years. Looks like I'll have some time on Labor Day. I'd have to go pretty early since I'm a hack and don't feel like crashing into any kids. Anyway if it gets too crowded we could head out Woodinville-Duvall Rd. or Paradise Lake Rd. etc.
  4. I have not heard it referred to as the selector rod seal but yeah that sounds like what I'm talking about.
  5. Is it necessary to remove the transmission to change the shifter seal?
  6. Went skiing on 7-19-08. Drove the grin machine to Artist Point between Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan.
  7. First stop was July 4th and Vintage Racing at Pacific Raceways. Then to tempt the rust gods at the beach.
  8. I'd like to get a fire extinguisher for my car. Anyone have any suggestions on where to buy and what to look for? Thanks. Eric.
  9. Saw a couple roundlights under a custom carport. Also saw a moose up there today. And some rare wildflowers. Total jackpot day.
  10. Mine went straight up as esty says. With your seat out I would carefully pull up the rearward side first, then the front side, and if the middle gives you problems, which mine did, you can pull out the ashtrays to get your hands more in the middle of the panel. Enough commas in that sentence? I felt like four clips was overkill so only re-installed with two. If you clean your ashtrays be careful. I washed the silver painted stripe right off of them using dish soap.
  11. Saw your squarie after a day of gettin' my ass kicked in the waves at Westport jetty. I was having dinner at Duffy's. That is really a great color if you ask me.
  12. I don't get why the grandstands were empty. Are these open to the public? I went to the vintage races last year and it was quite packed. I logged on to sovren's website to find out the schedule for this year only to find that I've already missed this race. I'm going to try to get to Maryhill Loops hill-climb. Do many '02s go to that event?
  13. Or the most insidious...your under hood gasket is in place but it has jumped from its channel. Stuff that thing back in and your eyes will quit watering and headaches will go away.
  14. On my '74 it looks like the plastic above the lights has wept down from the heat. I've tried to file the material away with some success. My bulbs would also turn white as well as being breached.
  15. Thanks. Those bolts actually look like a more likely culprit.
  16. I just replaced the rear window seal that was leaking onto and through the rear deck. Those leaks seem to be gone.
  17. Water drips into my trunk from both of those soft plastic vents. Or so it seems. Has anyone diagnosed this before and found a remedy?
  18. It's funny. I've been hiking in the PNW since I was a kid in the '70s and my first trip to Mt. Si was this fall. We took the '02. Stopped for obligatory pictures at Snoq. Falls, but rounding the corner and seeing what was obviously Brian's place was absolutely the highlight of my day. Just littered with '02s.
  19. Yes I have. Hey z. How did you fare in the floods?
  20. I would love to go look at it but finding the time to do it is a problem. It's been on craigslist off and on for about a month now I think.
  21. I was nailed at a stoplight myself in my old Jeep Cherokee. At first I thought I was okay, but after a few days I started having pain in my neck. Sometimes I can still feel it even today ten years later. A chiropractor helped me back then. I know that word can have some negative connotations but I'm telling you it really helped me. Put yourself straight before you worry about your car because the girl's insurance is going to pay more for you than your car.
  22. I have the rear windshield out of my car. It's inside my house with the seal and lockstrip installed. The lockstrip is not cut so some extra is hanging off. Is there a reason to leave the lockstrip uncut until after I re-install the window in the car? I have seen this recommended but I can't figure out the reason.
  23. My buddy in highschool (also a wink mirror enthusiast) had a '67 GTX that was re-painted white with a red stripe around the "ass end" the original color of which was that turbine bronze of the '67 above your car. I know the original color from scraping factory undercoating. A very fun car. However I gave "Julius" the nod. "Omnipresent road-feel" just has to count for something!
  24. Here ya go.............. http://www.thehotrodgirl.com/suicideknobs.html Much safer than a quick steering box.
  25. Thanks Toby B. I'm not splitting them. I was mistakenly looking at the bolts that hold the caliper together when all I wanted to do is pull the caliper off the strut/spindle. Got it figured out now. Appreciate the response though.
