  1. Dave, No need for proof, I'll have a clipboard and list of registrants at the gate - I need to know who to give the goody bags to..... Jeff
  2. Yes, of course if you're already registered your spot awaits you Saturday morning. I understand sometimes due to conflicts or commitments one cannot commit or know until the last minute if they can make it. Any driver who is there Saturday morning and has not registered will have to wait until all the registered cars are in and we see what space we have left......hence, no guarantee. We will try to accomodate everyone as we can, but there are limitations on the layout. Thanks, Jeff

  4. We're going to start setup about 6:30-7, getting the sponsors in with their setups, signs and so on. I would think we'll start to let cars in about 8-8:30, assuming everything goes smoothly. Plenty of space to park in the lot while we get up to speed....oh, and alcoholic beverages are NOT ALLOWED in the park!!!! Jeff
  5. John, Pierre and I were out at Woodley Park today plotting out the Meet layout, and we're very excited about next weekend. However, given space considerations and our permit conditions, we are restricted to about 100 cars at the Meet next week. As such I strongly encourage anyone thinking about going on Saturday to register as soon as possible. If we have a few more than 100 registered we'll be able to make that accomodation. However, if there are already 100 cars at the Meet and you show up the day of show without having already registered we will have the unhappy task of having to turn you away - we cannot logistically handle 20 or 30 cars showing up at the last minute, cash in hand without having registered. Again, please register - by waiting for the day of show you may not be able to get your car on the grounds. Sorry for the tough rules, but we're going to have our hands full Saturday morning as is. Thanks! Jeff
  6. Greg, The event is free to the public, and there is some parking in the lot beside the Meet grounds. It has a tendency to fill up, so I would suggest getting there early. Jeff
  7. When I got back from New England there were a couple of boxes of stuff from Meguiars waiting for me. Turns out they sent a dozen Quik Care detailing kits for our event, and John and I will be giving them away at the Meet. No raffles, we'll just draw a dozen of the voting cards that the drivers will fill out to help decide the Driver's Choice Awards and give the kits away. This is nice stuff, each kit has a bottle of exterior detailer, interior detailer and wheel detailer as well as a microfiber towel... must be $40-$50 retail. So, if you haven't registered yet, what are you waiting for? At this point any registrant has a really good chance of bagging one of these! Thanks Meguiars!
  8. Cripes, We were just in Maine the past few days, wish we could have seen it in person!
  9. Damn, I was in Watkins Glen a week early....no matter as I was driving a rental econo crap box...but it would have been fun to meet some of you guys. At least the wineries were great....love the Finger Lakes area.... Jeff
  10. we'll probably raise a glass or two somewhere Friday night, let me work on that. I know that there are some guys coming up from SD, so I'll try to post info on that. T shirts will be available at the show, and any leftover we'll put on sale at the socalvintagebmw.com website. Thanks Jeff
  11. Drivers..... It's almost Meet time....ack! Ok, John and I decided that its silly to raise registration rates until day of the Meet, so registration will remain $20/car $35 Car/Swap Space until registration closes the night before the meet. If you show up at the Meet unregistered (with a proper car of course) the fee will be $25 cash. It would be really helpful to those that are planning to go to the event to register as soon as possible. We are trying to get hard, accurate headcounts for both food and tshirts, and we want to make sure there is enough of both for everyone there. Speaking of tshirts....we have a rockin' image for our tshirts and I wanted to share it with all of you.... Jeff
  12. Not at all Joel, no need for any of that Ebay nonsense, I just put it up for sale mostly to see what i could get for it now that Ebay has dropped their up front fees. I threw a high reserve on it, and if I got it, then fine, I'll let it go, and focus on putting in EFI on my '75...eventually. It's a really really nice car, but I honestly didn't expect it to hit a $25K reserve, mostly because of the down economy. I partly put it up that high thinking (hoping?) it wouldn't be met. I really don't have the space for the car, so I'm good with it going to a home whre it will be better sheltered, assuming all the deal elements come through....stay tuned. Jeff
  13. I did post the car in Cars For Sale....Yes, it's my car, and after Chris' 02 in Vegas went for $32, I think all bets are off on what a tii is worth...in reality its whatever the buyer and seller agree upon. I spoke with all the bidders and they are legit, unfortunately I think the one with zero feedback has scared everyone off. The car is fully gone through to the tune of $28K over the past 15 months, so obviously I won't be giving it away....
  14. Steve, It looks like we're not not getting much of a response on this one, so we're scrapping the 33 drive for this weekend. John and a couple of other guys will probably shoot right up the 5, I think that's about it. Jeff
  15. UPDATE! It looks like all the track guys are going up today, and we've not gotten much a repsonse for this drive, so we're scrapping it. John B is heading straight up the 5 Saturday morning, and anyone who wants to join him should drop a note to his email or socalvintagebmw@yahoo.com. Sorry for any inconvenience. Jeff

  17. Chris deserves every cent he got for the car, he spent a lot of time and money on it. In the past couple of years, with the dollar tanking against the Euro, replacement parts have skyrocketed. I have my fully sorted/gone through/restored/whatever you want to call it Euro-look stock sunroff tii on Ebay, and I'm very curious to see where this goes, although I'll be fine if it stays here. 15 months of work and money in it, and a done car should pull a premium, as most cars offered need a 'little TLC" (Time, Labor and Cash). Chris is a brave man to do it non-reserve, my ball joints aren't that big. Since Chris' car is a turn key car, that fact deserves a significant premium. Ebay is fraught with pitfalls, but so is the rest of life. Caveat Emptor, my rule is I don't buy a car I don't see in person, or by someone I know personally who's opinion I trust. But we all know what opinions are like......! Jeff
  18. Excellent Norm....I'll gather caravan info as there are about a dozen guys coming down from the Bay Area/Sacramento....I'm thinking we'll have a few race prepped cars so we may park your CS there..... Jeff
  19. Alfas are always a welcome addition...but will the 02 be ready for the Oct. Meet? Jeff
  20. Hi, After considering different deadline factors, John and I have decided to push back the registration fee increase for the October Meet from end of today to end of next Sunday. We want to get as many people registered as soon as so we can so we can have accurate head counts for tshirts, food, giveaways, etc. If you are wanting to bring your car, we ask that you register at your earliest convenience. We will be having a great menu from Bubba's Q, more info on it at the socalvintagebmw.com website shortly. Speaking of headcounts, any of you that are planning to join us for the drive up CA 33 from Ojai to Buttonwood next Saturday for the VARA Oktoberfest, please give us an rsvp at socalvintagebmw@yahoo.com. Thanks again to everyone for all their support. Jeff
  21. Some guys will be up there 2 days, the others are doing a day trip, the consensus was folks wanted to do the drive on Saturday. Pierre, you are more than welcome to be the pace car, and maybe we should all assemble at Ojai? At the gas station? You tell me.... Jeff
  22. Steve, I'm going to try to get a headcount this weekend, along with getting everyone registered for the Oct Meet...as registartion fees are going up at the end of the weekend! Jeff
  23. SoCal Vintage BMW is teaming up with the Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA) as we will sponsor a drive up to Buttowillow Raceway via CA Highway 33 on Saturday, Septmenber 13. We will assemble in Ojai about 7AM, and head up the beautiful drive through the mountains and down into the Central Valley, past Carrizo Plain and take the CA 58 turnoff at McKittrick to go to Buttonwillow. VARA will have a reserve area in front of the West garages for the BMW's. Jeff Ireland will have a garage and will host a get together Saturday afternoon with drinks and snacks. He'll bring some giveaways as well. There will also be an opportunity for you to take your Vintage BMW around the track as well duringthe lunch break. VARA will be having a BBQ with Brats, kraut etc. Tickets for the BBQ are $15. VARA are always open to spectators and car clubs. The great part is the venue is basically free and the racing is fun to watch.

  25. Hamada, We're going to Buttonwillow instead to support Vintage Racing, going up 33 from Ojai which is a great, beautiful drive. Jeff
