Drivers! The Ireland Engineering Open House is coming up a week from Saturday, on October 12 at 11AM. Jeff will have out and available a number of specials on new performance parts for your vintage BMW as well as some used parts as well - so bring cash! There is always a strong turnout for this Open House so show up early before all the goodies on sale are gone! Ireland Engineering is located at 2086-B Central Avenue, Duarte, California 91010. Although we don't lead drives anymore, a few of you have asked for a map to take a drive before the open house on 10/12, and here is a full loop on the Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest Highway. This is only a suggested route so if you go make it as short or as long as you want. This route is 3.5 hours, so leave early and plan accordingly. Since the Angeles Crest has gotten to be a dangerous road we again only suggest it, and we do not recommend driving there. Here is a suggested route: https://goo.gl/maps/S2sKjHarPZkzsx2g6

  11. Price:: 400 Location: : Pacoima So I went and got tires that were too wide despite Alpina 7" wheels. So, there is available a brand new, never used set of BF Goodrich T/A Radial performance tires, P225/60R-14s - they'll cost about $115-120 each new, plus tax if you went to get them on your own, so drop a note at jeff@socalvintagebmw.com if you're interested and work out a deal. Or it you have a brand new set of 205's that'll work too!!
  12. Drivers We wanted to give a shout out to one of our new sponsors, German Motorsport, as they're rolling out a really nice Euro bumper conversion kit to coincide with the SoCal Vintage BMW Meet - we wanted to pass it along so the FAQers were aware of it. German Motorsport is also offering later ('74-'76) N American 2002 owners have had to deal with the onerous, unattractive 'big bumpers'. Now German Motorsport offers an easy, convenient kit to easily convert the unsightly US front bumper to the much more appealing Euro version: http://www.germanmotorsport.com/performance/bmw/performance-parts/bmw-1600-2002/body-and-trim/2002-euro-front-bumper-conversion-kit.html The kit includes: Euro style front bumper brackets; Drilling template for drilling the mounting points; Weld plates to cover the US bumper mount opening on the nose of the car; Instruction manual for mounting the bracket conversion kit; Link to Instructions on how to convert the rear bumper. Complete front bumpers (Left, center and right), overriders and rubber stripping also available - please inquire for cost. Looks great!
  13. Drivers We surveyed Woodley this past week and due to extended drought conditions and the limitations put on the City Recreation & Parks, we are having to change the layout of the Meet from its usual layout at the north end of the park - we will now be situated more along the eastern edge of Woodley. Please review the attached layout map The most important change to note is now the entrances have been reversed - Classic ('76 & later) is now at the at the NORTH entrance of the parking lot and Vintage ('76 and earlier)will enter at the far SOUTH end of the parking lot. Follow the directions of one of the volunteers, there will be a lot of cars getting checked in, but we're really trying to get it done as quickly as possible. Please note on the map the areas where the different models will be parked. Although the layout has changed, the Driver's Meet you all love will still be the same party in the park! We will make the changes as seamless as possible and get everyone parked as soon as possible and out enjoying the beautiful weather and beautiful Vintage BMWs!! More updates very soon! PS - 02s are leading all other chassis in registrations to date - thank you guys!

  17. Drivers! It's finally Meet Week! The SoCal Vintage BMW Meet at WoodleyPark, Van Nuys, will be NEXT SATURDAY, October 19th, from 9AM-4PM. We should start staging cars to park on the grounds by 8:00-15, and kick off things by 9 if all goes well. In your goody bags, along with the cool gifts we will have for you, will be your windshield card for you to fill out so everyone knows whose car they are looking at, but more importantly, what number car you are if they want to vote for you for the Drivers Choice Award - and you will all have a ballot in your bag as well. We'll have markers but if you have a pen bring it! Get your peers to vote for you so you can take one of the coveted Driver's Choice Awards home! Once again we will be raffling off some cool giveaway items from Meguiars and our other sponsors - but you have to get your completed ballot with you name on it to us to win! We'll have two giveaway times, 11 AM and noon. Also bring your microfiber towels, Meguiar's has been generous enough to send us so much product that everyone will get some when they check in. So you can park and give your car a quick detail so its ready for the press cameras! Baby's Bad Ass Burgers and The Grilled Cheese Truck are scheduled to start serving food about 11, so pack some food and beverage if you'll need to eat before then. There are drinking fountains located in different areas on the grounds. Bring your appetite because the food will be GREAT! Baby's Bad Ass Burgers serves up outstanding burgers and sides and The Grilled Cheese Truck is well known for their grilled cheese goodies and other offerings. We will have two entrances to the grounds, Classic ('76 & later) at the south end of the parking lot and Vintage ('76 and earlier) to try to get everyone parked, so please follow the directions of one of the volunteers. See the attached entrance diagram. Be patient, there will be a lot of cars getting checked in, but we're really trying to get it done as quickly as possible. If you registered you'll be parked and out and about the show that much more quickly. Please do so, it will be much easier for everyone. Just go to the 2012 Meet Page at the socalvintagebmw.com website and you'll find the registration link at the bottom of the page in red. We have some volunteers already to help stage cars in their chassis areas but a couple more won't hurt - not a lot of work but you have to be at Woodley by 7:30. The good news is you won't have to wait in line with your car, you'll pull in early. Please email us as soon as if you want to help. Those of you that have pre-bought tshirts, please come to the SoCal Vintage canopy once you've parked and pick it up there, and say hello. Those that haven't already purchased tshirts, please come by the canopy and buy some! Those of you that are driving a long way (from upstate NY or Florida!!), thank you and get here safely - we want to see you all in one piece, and hopefully you have caravans set up. We're looking forward to a very fun event
