  1. You have a typo on your VIN, all 74 tii start with 278XXXX. Recommend you spend some time in this website where the owner documents his 74 tii restoration efforts. https://www.my2002tii.com/ Recommend you start a blog page on the FAQ on your restoration efforts and you'll get constructive feedback from those who have been there, done that.
  2. Buying a set of 15X6 ET12 (E21 fitment) Alpina replica wheels and putting them on my former tii. At that time, I knew very little about wheel offset. I was more in to the way they looked on my 02 rather than offset. Let's just say that the Alpina replica wheels didn't last very long on my tii. A set of 15X7 ET25 Rota RB wheels replaced the Alpina replica wheels after I studied up on wheel offset.
  3. What size tires do you have on the E30 style 5 baskeweaves?
  4. It will look so much better after. Coupeking reproduction VIN tag in my tii.
  5. Wheels look like 15" Ronal LS wheels which is a big bonus. When these wheels come up for sale, they aren't cheap.
  6. Not mine, no affiliation, etc... https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pts/d/warrington-cibie-headlights/7579152737.html
  7. I once had three E3's at the same time. I really needed my head examined.
  8. If you can't find a steering wheel that you like for your 02 in this thread, there is no hope. https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/126575-steering-wheel-thread/
  9. The remanufactured Coupe King VIN plate in my tii. It looks so much better than the original. https://shop.coupeking.com/products/vin-plates
  10. I'm with Andrew on this one, you can't do a proper restoration with an unreadable VIN tag. My 2002tii at CoupeKing's shop 13 years ago getting prepped for paint prior to everything from my Frankenstein tii being transferred into this clean tii shell.
  11. +1 on bring it back to Sahara.
  12. I know that Nardi hub can be used with a Personal wheel and vice versa. Unaware that a Nardi hub can be used with a Momo wheel and vice versa. GLWS!
  13. On both of the tii motors that I have had rebuilt in the last 20 years, I've only done one upgrade. Both US spec motors (2762096 & 2780763) were upgraded to Euro tii spec with higher compression pistons (9.5:1 ratio), nothing else. This was highly recommended by both the west coast tii gurus (Jack Fahuna and Bill Holmes) I talked to. Both strongly advised on not messing with the camshaft unless I was building a dedicated track car.
  14. If you haven't found this site, I highly recommend that you spend some time soaking up the knowledge from someone who has been there and done that in restoring a 74 tii. https://www.my2002tii.com/
  15. In 2019, Bilsteins were on nationwide back order. I ordered a set of Billie's for my E30. Fast forward eight months later to the Spring of 2020 and still no light at the end of the tunnel when Bilsteins would be available. I canceled the order and went with Koni sport shocks, no regrets. I had heard that Bilstein had made significant progress on clearing up their backlog, I guess not.
  16. Spend some time in this thread before you spend any money on tires and wheels.
  17. I did my first E21 5-speed conversion in 1983 I had an 02 for a short time in the late 90's that had the original 4-speed. I found myself always trying to shift it in to 5th gear. Purists will hate me but you'll love the 5th gear while cruising to Mid-America fest. No regrets on the 5-speed and E21 LSD conversion to my tii.
  18. I'm partial to black spoke leather wrapped Nardi and Momo wheels. They look great in an 02.
  19. Jack Fahuna recently rebuilt my 74 tii motor. Only upgrade was higher compression pistons, 9.5:1 pistons (Euro tii spec). The injection pump was rebuilt 20 years ago by Jerry Fairchild and no issues since. I also own a 91 E30 318i M42. Two different animals. To enjoy a M42 is to drive it like you stole it. The M42 doesn't come alive until after 3500 RPM. Fuel Injection Center Specializing in Mechanical Fuel Injection WWW.FUELINJECTIONCENTER.COM Mechanical Fuel Injection Repair and Service. 20. My former 74 2002 had the stub axle break back in the early 90's while going 70 MPH on I-15 in the Mojave Desert near Barstow. I had no indication or noise that it was going to break. The back drivers side wheel/tire and brake drum assembly separated from the 02 and the car went down on the rear trailing arm in a shower of sparks. That was an "oh sh*t" moment. The wheel crossed the median and opposite lanes and went out in the desert. I'm lucky the wheel didn't hit someone in the opposite lanes. Looking back, that 02 had a lot of rust issues. I brought that 02 back from Germany while I was stationed there. I have no doubt that the rust was a contributing factor to weakening the stub axle. After I got the 02 fixed, a week later the 02 was totaled by a red light runner. Insurance gave me far more money than the car was worth.
  21. I can't speak for blower brushes, but here's my experience. Three years ago I was living on the east coast, I pulled my heater box and took the top half of the heater box with the fan to P&H Auto Electric in Baltimore. They rebuilt my heater fan motor with new brushes, balanced the blades, all for $50 plus tax. They are an old school automotive electrical shop, hard to find these days. https://phautoelectric.com/
  22. Try posting your ad in the FAQ classifieds cars for sale forum.
  23. What's wrong with the color? I even repainted my 74 Sahara tii the original color, Sahara.
  24. Put a set of 15X7 ET26 MSW open lug basketweaves with new 195/50-15 tires on my 74 tii. I'm liking the look even though I hate cleaning basketweaves with a passion.
