  1. My battery (73-tii) seems to have a lot of charge as the headlights stayed on after the engine died. I was coasting down hill when I notice the battery light on. I gave it gas to rev the engine high to see if theres any difference but thats when it died so I coasted further downhill and parked it. When the engine ran towards the end it seemed to be fighting reving higher. This morning I need to go back and fix it so it dosn't get a ticket but I don't even know what caused the problem. I was hoping someone else would know of a problem where the engine has plenty of fuel and charge in the battery but just would not not run and the battery lights on. .
  2. Its most likely the adjustment in the tuna can on top center of the motor. From what I remember the manual saying you turn in the screw till it surges and then back it out a 1/4 turn. I can't remember which way to turn the screw but I think you will need to back it out a turn or two and the adjust the idle screw in a little to make up the difference.
  3. I got one from BMW last summer when I changed motors but there really isn't a lot to worry about. I took the cold start valve out with the motor running and didn't notice much change because of the vacuum leak. Just make a gasket and you'll be fine.
  4. Why pay extra money or take extra time to fill in the holes?
  5. Don't paint it. It will look good in the beginning but paint peels and after you have spots with no paint it looks crappy. Just clean it up as best you can.
  6. On headlights BMW can't even import them to this country because there illegal on the road. I have seen a few models (E24's&E34's) with for lamps that are yellow. They look good and BMW can import them. I don't believe there's anything from BMW for the 2002 in yellow though.
  7. Isetta's are BMW's. They belong at BMW car shows.
  8. Just because BMW owns Mini doesn't give Mini's exclusive rights. I don't see Mercedes at Chrysler shows. I don't even think there is a Chysler show but there has been Mopar shows.
  9. I disagree. I work at a BMW dealer and plenty of Mini's have been traded in and the people brought BMW's. What your saying is the new owners of BMW's should would be at a Mini show. BMW's a BMW and Mini is a Mini just because BMW owns Mini doesn't give the Mini owners the right to be in a show with BMW's unless it has a separate event for non BMW's. It was Bimmerfest and not Minifest. Mini's are good cars and I might even own one someday so I'm not trying to put Mini owners down.
  10. I'm going to only look in to import carpet as it sounds so much better.
  11. There is such a big price difference and I'm wondering why? It seems to just get the less expensive but I'm hoping the imported loop would last much longer and look better.
  12. If your gonna go cheap. Go real cheap. I don't know who makes there rotors or quality but the price is right. http://catalog.worldpac.com/tayco/wizard.jsp?partner=tayco&clientid=alloemautoparts.com&baseurl=http://www.alloemautoparts.com/&cookieid=20T1459KO22K16XRFA&year=1973&make=BM&model=2002--001&category=N∂=Brake+Disc
  13. Golf is one of the colors that really make an 02 stand out in a parking lot full of 02's. Make it a color even other 02's look at. Your lucky that that was the original color so it will match up even when you open your hood and trunk.
  14. I would only use intake stud on the exhaust side temporarily. I don't know why there is a difference but its most likely the extreme heat on the exhaust side since the exhaust side does gets quite a bit hotter. So they most likely they use heat treated and hardened studs on the exhaust side to keep the studs from stretching and breaking.
  15. If you have an idle solenoid take it out and clean. Its sounds like its just got a little junk in it.
  16. I have a tii and was told to use bg fuel treatment a couple times to clean out the injectors and the rest of the system.
  17. That hose looks like it a 13-73-0-742-139 hose $5.15 from BMW.
  18. The prices are very high on there stock springs from BMW. Since my car and most old 02's are sagging I want to but in new springs and bring the car back to the stock height or at least close to it. I'm hoping someone know who carries normal height springs since I don't want it lowered. Thanks for any help.
  19. car has a nice butt so I don't think it could be from Bangle.
  20. Betty's not so ugly and the 8 series was a 2 door sports coupe which this doesn't seem to be. The 4 door coupe is a great idea for businessmen but it should have a series name of its own. Long before the cars are built they will change that ugly nose but it looks good from the side and back.
  21. I work at a BMW dealership but I still would pay big bucks for stock coil springs. The rear springs for my 635 were much cheaper then the springs for my tii. The tii sags in the back and is in desperate need of rear springs at least. I am hoping someone can help me with a decent price on stock springs. I want to keep my car at the stock height.
  22. The whine is probably coming from your differential. Your description sounds like its the front pinion bearing.
  23. I had th"errnt" sound and the problem was my left ball joint. As it got worse it even made the noise when the car was sitting still and turning the wheel to the left.
