  1. Its most likely a bad CV joint. My car made the same kind of noise only on left turns and it turned out being my left outer CV joint. I didn't notice anything by looking at the CV when the car was still but when I put it on a lift and had it in gear I could see the outer CV wasn't doing it job. For the time being I just turned the axle shaft around and have the bad CV on the inside where it doesn't have to move as much. It seems to have taken care of the noise completely.
  2. Before I start the job I want to know if this easy way will be ok. Instead of doing the measurement for the shims, I just want to use the same shims that are already there. I will make sure I use the shims on the same side I take it out from. I am wondering if anyone has used the shims that were in place before and is it really necessary to be exact.
  3. E24 M6 uses the same size (6MM) chrome acorn nuts for the valve cover. 07-11-9-924-324 NUT
  4. I have the old parts book which show they both have the same warm up regulator number and if you need I have the link at home to see the tii adjustments for the pump which shouldn't be too much different. When I get home later I'll reply to this message.
  5. only the later style one piece dash cover is available. I put one on a 73 with a two piece dash and it went right and looks great. I don't know if it will fit a 3 piece dash but it works well with a one or two piece. I great investment. Spend a little time trimming it and it will look like the original. Most people don't even realise I have one till I mention it. I also put one in my 635 and would recommend it to anyone unless they really wanted to stay original and replace the dash.
  6. My car was searching when it was warmed up. From what I remember I turned the small screw in till it searched more and then brought it back 1/2 turn adjusted the idle back down and it hasn't searched since. From what I remember turning the screw in leans it and turning the screw out rich ens it. Hope this helps at all. Solved the problem with my car.
  7. On Saturday the 18th BMW will be the featured marque down in Irvine (previously Crystal Cove car show) now called Cars and Coffee. The show runs from 7:00 to 9:00. I always see plenty of Bmw's but that weekend I would like to see more. The event has event parking and a separate parking area for spectators. The display lot can hold hundreds of cars. There will be coffee and doughnuts for sale and also there are bathrooms for those who might need them. Besides BMW's there are plenty of unique cars to see. As for BMW's you will see plenty 2002's, CS's , CSI's, and more. Follow this link for directions and I hope to see you there. http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2072/424/1600/FORD-PAG_CarsAndCoffee_BackMap.jpg Ken Schinski 73 2002tii 86 635csi

  9. I'm wondering what gas additive to use that I can just add to my fuel. I just got another fuel injection system from another motor. Its just an old stock tii unit. There are little problems with it and so I am going to try and use additive to clean it out and also clean the injectors a little.
  10. We would like about 6 more 02's to show up. On the 18th BMW will be the featured car so come and see plenty of all the models. Last weekend Paul Cain had his 2002ttii there. Most of you saw the car featured in the July Roundel. He also has a 3.8csi that's at the show quite often. There should be plenty of all model BMW's. There's more then enough room at the show to handle all the cars that can come. If you are going to come please reply. You will be happy you came.
  11. This is simple but put some duct tape around your dipstick to seal it better. This oil consumption can easily accrue because of a vacuum leak in the block. It makes it much easier for oil to pass the rings no matter how good they are.
  12. the pipe on the driver side of the block which has a hose in front to the water pump and a hose in back to the heater rusts out back by the heater hose. It sounds like the hose resealed after puking some rust which most likely sealed it. Time to replace the hoses and address the problem.
  13. Just turned to 175000 miles. Don't know how many rebuilds or motors if any untill this summer.

  15. please let us know of all the rebuilders around so we can call and compare. I only know of three Dave Redzus, Precision Auto Research, Bensonville, IL. Phone is 630-766-4402 Gus Pfister, Pacific Fuel Injection Service, 153 Utah Ave, South San Francisco, CA 94080 , (650) 588-8880 Jerry Fairchild industries,? (530) 241-1592.
  16. I haven't seen one picture yet. Since I missed the event I would like to see some pictures.
  17. Where can I have my fuel injectors rebuilt on a tii? Someone must to it for new injectors are just too expensive. If anyone can help me please let me know where I could have it done.
  18. My opinion is that you wouldn't have a noticable change since the ports are still the same size so you should save it for a 2002 motor.
  19. By chance do you know of anyone in the Orange County area? Also I have driven my car a lot but after more then 15 years I think I should fix the problem its always had. I was hoping that when I put in another motor with injection it would take care of the problem. The motor runs much better but its still rich and would run allot better without the problem. Also the gas mileage would improve. The motor has much more power but it idles worse.
  20. I never had the fuel injection tested or know someone in the area that could. I would like to know who in southern CA. could? I would gladly take my car there and have it checked out.
  21. I have had a rich problem with my tii for years. I have replaced the throttle butterfly and also the warm up regulator with brand new ones and still have the original problem. I now even put in a used motor for other reasons and this motor came with all the fuel injection parts, so now I have another motor that runs rich with all different fuel injection parts. The previous owner had replace the fuel injection linkage and I put in brand new bushings so I know that's not the problem. I haven't had the pump rebuilt or any of the injectors and I'm wondering if this problem could be from the injectors or pump. It seems so common on this board for people to mention that there tii runs rich that I hoping someone has an answer. Could it be one or more of the injectors or is it time to have my pump rebuilt? Please post what you know.
