  1. 30 mpg at a constant 50-55 miles per hour on dual 40's with smaller idle jets, the bigger the idle jets the more gas you consume. fyi side draft idle jet range is up to about 3K so i you are cruising under 3k your gas mileage is awesome, but once you go over and the main jets kick in then your gas mileage will be from 18-24 mpg dependent on your cruising speed. i did about 300 kms on a tankful of gas at a steady 5k rpm cruising speed with 45's 304 cam big valves, 10:1's, large bore header and just a 4 speed with a 4:11 rear.
  2. you can source 235 60 13 tires in europe they still make them there or japan.
  3. fyi recaro does make child seats. looks like you have a hans device there!
  4. you can get an aux venturi that were used on alfas and they were the thick kind where you cannot possibly put an air horn in it and it just held the aux venturi in place when you put air filters in it. yes you can use air horns but install air filter socks or get shorty air horns and you can still have them inside a regular dcoe air filter.
  5. cutting ring head gasket is ideal but even the stock one would do check your block and head to see if it had the marks for a cutting ring gasket. $142 each part #11120035273
  6. or rent an impact with at least 800 lbs of torque
  7. brosol is a brazilan copy used mainly of vw bugs. brasov is a weber licensee built in eastern europe, they mainly build carbs for the engines on light armored personell carriers or tanks.
  8. in some states they only require a bill of sale for older cars. check your state laws.
  9. i rebuild carbs, i can fix them and put new bearings on and rejet them for your application. or you can free them up by soaking them in penetrating oil or wurth rost-off. do not use propane as the carb body will melt! cheers, dave
  10. the turbo flares would look even nicer with the turbo airdam

  16. i am doing a color change on the '73 i am restoring now, i will strip all the paint on top should i strip the paint in the underbody too and paint it body color or should i use por-15, marine undercoating paint or rustoleum?
  17. what is the difference with the type of fuel pick ups? the early ones use a twist in type and the later '73-'75 use the one with the bolt in type to mount on the tank? just wondering as i have 2 early ones and 2 later ones, which one is better to use?
  18. follow the factory procedure, you might still have one in you windshield, i meant the sticker. for good seating of the rings drive in the highway cruise around 50 mph then let go off the gas or coast a few times, or engine brake by down shifting. don't rev past 4k. one thing you should not do is do not let it idle for more than 5 minutes as gas just dilutes the oil in your crankcase. drive the car mostly highway and not in traffic. someone told me a little bit of uphills is also good. race engines are different thought they just beat the shit out of it as they replace the rings and bearings after a few races. use regular oil to break it in, change oil and filter at 500 miles, still use regular oil then change again at 1k then check all engine bolts, exhaust manifold bolts for torque then retorque cylinder head and check valve clearances with engine cold like overnight, according oem specs. then use synthetic or regular oil your choice. btw the engine will smoke fo the first hour or so as the assembly lube used will burn off.
  19. my concern was the doors were properly aligned that is why i was hesitating on removing the doors as it is hard to line up properly again and i might scratch the new paint job when i put the doors back in.
  20. i did kfish lines in braided that were used for m-benz 6 cyl. cis k-jet injection set up a couple of years ago for a friend, i have seen them in steel too in germany don't know who makes them though.
  21. the carb has at least 2 vacuum ports so you don't need to tap into the intake. use threaded caps, or big bolts to cap the holes.
  22. look for faults in your ignition system, cap, rotor, points, wires, harnesses. on the carbs see if you have a vacuum leak, let the car run on about 1500 rpm (adjust idle screw or have someone play with the gas pedal) then spray carb cleaner on the carb base, throttle shaft ends and carb body, if the idle increase then you have a vacuum leak at the spot where you sprayed at.
