Help getting un-screwed!

Ready to get plates on the car and noticed the license plate mounts are security screws/bolts.

Did a search here and found nothing related to security screws.

I've been to 4 auto part stores with no luck. I did find a set of hex pin-hole center wrenches on Sears site and Fastenal for ~$18.00 -$50. It can't be this difficult, I must be missing something here.

Anybody recognize where these came from? I will attest to their security - these are really hard to get off.

Thanks.

I had a set of those. They came with the appropriate wrench for installation. Check the major chain auto parts stores, as the whole set is pretty reasonable. I know you mentioned you've checked auto parts stores, but they are out there - Walmart?

whats wrong with just plain old nuts and bolts ? Double nut the inside if needed for security, maybe even go stainless steel. A purist spanked me awhile back for using sae , not metric on my plate hardware. LOL

edit- thats just a plain old allen head bold. Allen wrenches !

individually--determine size you need with an allen wrench, then match with the proper bit at the store. I had to buy one to take a small heater apart, and the bit was $3-4...

Thanks guys for the good leads and the offer to loan one, Bill. I was real close to drilling out a hex key but got onto other priorities to get this on the road! I'll get to an ACE hardware later today and pick em up.

Always helpful here. Thanks.
