I genuinely had to have a quiet moment alone when I heard this news .As has already been said - great actor, humanist and more than just a lover of motorsport.

I saw him in the Trans Am race in Seattle about 20 years ago. They had to drag him out of the car then, but still a great driver.

No one was cooler than Cool Hand Luke, I'm going to watch Road to Perdition tonite in honor of him.

Great actor, driver, humantiarian. We will miss him!!

The first time I met Paul was about 15 years ago at Lime Rock. I was helping a friend working on the engine in his Spitfire. There we are - both

of us buried in the engine compartment.

A few moments later, I felt an arm around my shoulders and somebody saying "You guys okay? need any help?". I turned my head and told him that we were okay and would get the engine fixed.

The guy took him arm of my shoulder and walked off to the car in the pits.

As he was walking away, I suddenly realised it was Paul Newman.

It made my day.

I'm deeply saddened.. It's rare that a person touches so many people in such a positive way. An ambassador to mankind IMO.
