...some more.

I'm very happy after first drives. Suspension with Konis works very well, sound is good outside, inside pretty quiet as wanted, steering is better now with higher ET wheels. There's still issues at low rpm cruising, I would need help with Megasquirt tuning. Braking effort is quite high, good for normal traffic but for spirited driving I need to consider smaller master or searching a tii booster to replace the one from Escort. Overall good, some fixing needed of course. The feeling of driving an -02 on street after over 4 years pause is something I'm not able to describe :-)

Looks fantastic. Where did you get the side skirts in the trunk? If you made them youself, would you share the patern? That is a great look.

You mean the cardboards, left and right? They are original.

Thank you guys for the latest comments! I'm flattered.

I started working with the little quirks found out during last summer. I bought a tii double diaphragm brake booster from german ebay to replace the one from Ford Escort. I hope I can lock the brakes now. It was sandblasted, painted and finally today installed with new "T51 Bremsgerät" -sticker. I still need to redo one brake line to left front wheel.

Brake job is finished. Next task was to update Megasquirt software to make tuning possible.

I updated Megasquirt firmware from old MS'S to MSExtra. Installed new Megatune and Tunerstudio to laptop. Then WB-lambda to car and connected it to MS. Whole lot of fiddling to make it all work (about 2 full days). I'm not so familiar with all this so there's some kind of problem in each and every setup. And solving them takes time. Now it looks quite good to start tuning. I will return to NB-lambda after tune-up is done.

Tomorrow I'll try to get wheels balanced. Then yearly inspection and I'm ready for summer :)

Superb work, and a beautiful result - congratulations!

How did you learn your metalwork/welding skills?

Julian

Thanks Julian.

I've learned a lot from internet project blogs, some by asking from more experienced friends but mostly by just doing it...and doing it again.

Now I'm at a position that car is otherwise finished but I'm lacking skills to fine tune the Megasquirt to run really well in all circumstance. Also there is some intermittent bug in the system that makes it miss sometimes.
