Non-Standard/Euro Bumpers on 1975 - Maybe? Please Help!

Just curious to know if anyone has any information on bumper variations. I would like to know if any non-high impact bumpers were offered on 1975 2002's outside the US? One guy has referred to these as "highly sought after Euro bumpers." Or is this just a case of someone customizing an older bumper set to a 75 and misquoting/representing the situation? I am attaching a picture and hopefully it will come thru and someone has some info on this. Any info appreciate. I am deployed so I can be emailed at casey.fischer@cvw7.navy.mil for discussion.

Thanks

Casey

They are both accurate statements to an extent.

Yes, outside the US 1502's - 2002's through '76 sported chrome bumpers. The large impact bumpers only apply to US models due to US bumper regulations.

And yes, this owner does have 'euro' bumpers. At least one of them. It is most likely, though, that this owner just found himself a pre-74 front bumper and rear bumper ends from an early US 2002 model. And then acquired a euro center piece for the rear. The rear bumper is an actual 'euro style' bumper. Note the license plate lights are on the bumper itself. This is how the very early US model (1600's) and all Euro model bumpers look.

Some of our fellow FAQers have actually been able to do their own cutouts and wire the lights directly on too so you can have this look if you have a steady hand, some tools and can cut out the small rectangular cutouts.

Without looking at the sheetmetal

(for the US bumper supports and big, filled- in holes)

or the VIN, it's certainly possible that this is a euro squarie.

As to 'super- rare-' well, it kind of comes down to how much YOU care

about it. Me, if it's a nice car at a fair price, then it's cool. But I can't see

it adding much 'value' beyond the general condition of the car.

The answer to the "real or memorex" question would have to be.... MEMOREX! The licence plate lights appear to be a bit too close together for the Euro bumper.

keen eye...you win the broken glass...

i placed them a wee bit closer to fit with and better illuminate the US tags...i set them on the bumper, properly before cutting and i got more light on the tags and less on the rear panel

The bumper dit fit like a glove, no modifications at all to do it.
