  1. i got a momo race wheel so its modofied, the column doesnt lock, so i have that coveted...
  2. We are moving down the hill into a new home and I need some fast advice. I lost my keys last winter - yes dumb. No local locksmith will rekey since it is a a bmw. It is a 1975 2002. I am wondering if anyone has advice on hotwiring or starting without the key so I can get it into my new garage. Otherwise I will have to get it towed. Thanks! Jonesy
  3. Okay I don't even want to share this story but I need some help. I was getting ready to leave town and pulled my my '75 02 out of storage. The battery wasn't holding a charge so I made the choice to leave it in my friend's driveway and went back to pick up my V-Dub and then to my hotel for the night. So then the bad part... My friend wanted to move the car and got the idea to put the battery in from his broken down Dodge van. So now I know my alternator has to be cooked - you can smell it - in fact he said it smoked and almost started on fire. So now I need to try to fix this so what else did he burn up? My guage lights are non-functional at this point. If I turn the key full off I still get the L light on so I have to disconnect the battery completely. Now the Blaupunkt won't shut off so I have to disconnect the face plate. Please let me know your ideas here. I'd like to rectify this before long. Any ideas on where to get a reasonable priced alternator?
  4. Hey All I have looked around and am having a hard time finding a concise weight for a stock 1975 2002. Being on deployment doesn't help right now. I am pretty sure I am in the ball park but a definitive answer would be great. Thanks, Casey
  5. I am trying to generate a little interest in my BMW. Right now I am on deployment in the Navy and will be home sometime in the latter part of July. I am seperating from the navy at that time and heading to MN to go to college. I don't really want to part with the car but it will be hard for me to transport it as the military won't cover it in the move from what I can understand. The car is structurally in good shape with little rust. Although there is the tell tale rust in the spare tire well in the trunk and a little popping under the paint. The car was repainted modern metallic bmw green at some point in its life. Also the car had been stored inside for about five years before I bought and since it has spent most of it's days garaged or under the car port. It has been upgraded to electronic ignition, has a newer weber carb, new hoses, recent tires, momo leather wheel, newer grey carpet set and other upgrades including aftermarket pop up sun roof. It has recarros which came out of a 320i although the driver seat is starting to be a bit beat up so a recover would be good. Dash is decent but could use some work. At some point someone installed a set of race guages. Everything on the car works at this point but the heater fan runs loud and could benefit from replacement. Car runs good and has been very reliable. I used it as my daily driver a couple summers back when I got home from deployment and have had it tuned up yearly. I paid almost $5,000 when the market was high now I am asking $3300 and I am flexible on that. If you would like to know more just email me. I will have to see if I have more pictures on my laptop but am not sure right now. I will take more when I get home in July and get it out of storage. my deployed email is casey.fischer@navy.mil
  6. I got you, more likely I had MYSELF confused. Thanks.
  7. So maybe I am confused on termonology. I am refering to the piece of trim that runs along the midsection of the car, or the middle trim which is about knee level. 2002AD lists the following parts: Lower Moulding T-Bolt (uses 41335480120 plastic nut) $1.45 belt moulding clip for lower trim (white plastic) (22 req) $0.70 I know the clip will work but what about the t-bolt? I remember pulling something similar out of the old trim. So really is it the lower moulding or lower trim that I referring to?
  8. It isn't stalling or acting sluggish. However, I can say that get a good wiff of fuel when I put the pedal down. It's not always prevelent that why I assume it was engine/carb situation. When the trunk is opened it smells pretty heavy of fuel. But I think the seal is pretty good there.
  9. Without going into tons of detail: My 75 has a Weber 2BL. When I drive I am being over powered by the odor of fuel. I am not sure this is normal. This is a newer carb. Can any adjustments be made? I know I am not providing a lot of detail but maybe someone has some ideas on the issue/fix. Thanks~ Casey
  10. Hi all. Its been a while since I have posted on the forum. I will be posting a couple of topics but right now I want to ask about lower moulding clips. The passenger side lower moulding on my 75 doesn't want to stay put. I have already lost one on the road. Mine has the plastic clips but if I am not mistaken the original hardware was a T-bolt correct? If so would this be a better option for keeping the moulding on vs a flimsy clip? Thanks ~ Casey
  11. Just curious to know if anyone has any information on bumper variations. I would like to know if any non-high impact bumpers were offered on 1975 2002's outside the US? One guy has referred to these as "highly sought after Euro bumpers." Or is this just a case of someone customizing an older bumper set to a 75 and misquoting/representing the situation? I am attaching a picture and hopefully it will come thru and someone has some info on this. Any info appreciate. I am deployed so I can be emailed at casey.fischer@cvw7.navy.mil for discussion. Thanks Casey
  12. Hi to all, I am in need of a little advice. I have just recently aquired a a 75 2002. My 71 2002 is in need of more mody work than I can deal with at this point. Both cars have strong engines. The 75 is stock and the 71 has a fuel injected engine from a 78 320i. I know that the 75s had a lot of emission control features in them making them a little less desirable and so forth. So I am wondering which is more desirable from a standpoint of rebuilding and adding performance. Can anyone offer me their thoughts on if I should swap the 320i engine into my 75 or not? I would like to rebuild it and add in some performance. Is this a good idea or is there more hope in its current motor. I am pretty new to these machines so the more I know before I proceed, the better. I am currently on deployment in the Navy and have a hard time logging on to the forum. I do have email and if anyone could email their thoughts that would be great. My email is casey.fischer@cvw7.navy.mil
