thats really cool man,

I have us spec Tii motor,

its not matching numbers so Its like heh whatever, I have the orginigal numberred block at home :D

and after hearing your build im pretty inspired.

I think im running 9:1 compression or 9.5:1 compression already. so that would mean I would need water injection right?

Im not sure what the limit is for compression, so I would like to take some of your knowledge.

Think about it before you do this.

You can find a good running m10 for sub $100 with 8.3:1 or whatever CR. Why not use that and blow it up instead. Once you have the car running then experiment with a higher CR motor. Save the good motor?

Your Right :/ I can't believe I did not even think of this. It would make the project ten times easier anyway. that is why I am posting here to get some good knowledge to learn some stuff before I get in too deep! I think If I do go through this I will go that route. Thanks man I appreciate that! Especially cause I could find a 318 motor that already has the injector bungs and manifold Etc. ready to go. legit. haha

  • 3 weeks later...

Started a short runner intake today ( post here )

http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,319747/

I also picked up another intercooler and will run one on each side of the kidney in the grill area for the bigger turbo I'm hunting for at the moment ( looking for an HY35 Holset )

I wonder how much the stock pistons will actually take, I'm throwing a bar and a half at them now, stay tuned and find out. ;-)

  • 1 year later...

Been a while since I've done anything to the car except general maintenance, I did find the time to eat second gear in the 5 speed somehow.

Well I finally got around to pulling it out and it snowballed into a bit more than an R and R of the tranny. After what is it now, three revisions of the turbo setup on the stock motor I'm tired of the rats nest of wires and just general mess that the engine bay has become.

I forgot to take the camera with me today but two days ago it looked like this,

I have not seen your 2002 in awhile, looks good! I was going to tell you I just picked up a 75 2002.

Got another one did ya.

I've been making progress, have the bay painted, most of the wires re-run, booster back in and a bunch of small detail stuff. I've been snapping pics as I go along I just keep forgetting to bring the camera home with me.

If all goes well I should have it done by the end of next week.

Yea I had to get another one. The new one has way less rust. What are you doing with the old intake manifold setup? Im kinda thinking about going MS with a NA setup.

Well been working on it a little hear and there, finally dragged the camera home and will post up a few pics of how it looks as I left it today.

Basic bay shot,

I was able to get the pump for my water/meth injection behind the headlight,

Got the fresh block ready to go ( new bearings and rings, low comp piano tops, head from a 318i, 276 cam and a quick cleanup of the ports ), I also made a brace for the intake manifold as I had some problems with the runners cracking ( let's face it, the thing is huge ) I also put a little bracket on the brace for the fuel filter, it used to just be wedged in down by the old battery tray. Took a pic before I left,

Hope to have the wiring on the firewall done early so I can drop the motor/tranny back in tomorrow.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
