Moving at Glacial speed,...but

Instagram post yesterday.

So far so good....

Next full sample of our @vintagedashes #bmw2002 dash is in hand. Progress has been slow we know. Even though the dash is small & most would assume it’s an easy build but all the curvatures make it...

Loose: Not tightly bound. Subject to motion.
Lose: What happens when you are spell check dependent.

1975 Malaga. It is rusty and  springs an occasional leak.  Just like me.

A couple of months ago, I asked Forest Koogle about the MVP dash.  He believed then the ETA was April - May for the mid-production 2 piece.  From a drought to a flood.

Frau Blucher - 73 tii

Captain Biggles - 66 Triumph TR4a

You are likely right but for some reason I recall it being described as around $750. Not cheap but less than a good recovering (I think!).

Not sure what final price will be of course.

Well, I hate to be the naysayer, but I don't understand why they are focusing on the two piece dash. The three piece dash is much better as it offers more versatility, and it was the most widely produced dash. Furthermore, those of us with the very early Euro  three piece dash can also use the top piece, which is always the first to develop cracks. By re-producing the two piece dash you're just narrowing your market niche and prospective sales. It's a bad choice, not to mention the two piece dash is ugly, but not as ugly as the one piece. So, I'm really not looking forward. I'll never purchase a re-production two piece or one piece dash.

In the last resort I can probably figure out a way to cover the dash with vinyl, where it would look decent. Or, I'll fill and paint it. But, I'm never going to opt for a "Glob" two piece or one piece dash.

Vintage Dashes was working on both single and 2 piece dashes. I believe they might be focused on the 2 piece first because it was easier (relatively) to manufacturer.

FWIW - Just Dashes is up to $3000+ to recover a dash.

The last time I inquired about recover costs from Just Dashes, it seems like their prices have come down a bit since the pandemic days(they quoted me like $4k and a waiting list of 2 years), now it's closer to around $2k and turnaround time of around 2 months.  Judging by what Vintage dashes sells their dashes made for Datsons and Porsches, the price of the 2002 should be in line at around $1500, which really isn't bad at all compared to recovering it.
