Looking forward to learning how you managed to remove the crimped-on bezel without damaging it or the case...

PS.   the mechanical 72-73 tii clocks--and the 1600 clocks that substituted for tachs--are usually pretty easily repaired.  The problem is usually the points that control the solenoid that winds the clock spring--they're burned and don't transmit current, same as a bad relay.

Removing the bezel isn't too difficult, but doing it cleanly is nearly impossible.  Luckily the 1974 shroud for the clock hides the imperfections. 

My last '02 was a '73 tii.  Back in about 2003 I wrote what I think was the first how-to on repairing the earlier clocks, and had it posted to my GeoCities site.  Its too bad the '74 clocks are not repairable.

Finally done with my Volvo clock conversion. Unnoticeable from the outside. The ground is a little different in the VDO clocks, so I had to solder a ground wire that I could attach to the case. Turned out great. I'll do a full write up in my blog in the coming weeks.
