Bay Area 2002 Specialist

Hi everyone, I have a 1972 tii with an overheating issue that I’d like to have diagnosed. The car is located in San Mateo, CA. Are there any 02 specialists in the area you would recommend?

Motorspeed West in Santa Clara, Bill Arnold in San Rafael (although he might be a bit swamped right now), North Bay Bavarian in Santa Rosa, Casey Motorsports in Petaluma…

 

Hopefully it’s just the wrong thermostat. I had the same issue with my 74tii last year. That solved it.

+1 all the shops listed, take your pick.
Diagnosis is easy. You need a new radiator, thermostat & temperature sender. Advise grounding the instrument cluster if that hasn't been done yet.

advanced timing and too lean of a mixture makes a tii very hot headed. 

 

but what do I know
