320 brake drum compression spring

I just did this. Obviously, you need to compress the spring enough to get the pin into the slot. Turn the pin 1/4 turn, I dunno. I just pushed the end of the clip down with a large screwdriver while holding the pin from the other side.

There are lots of ways for this not to work, from the shoes being slightly different

or the material being bonded on a bit off- center,

to the pins being too short to the clips being too thick.

And sometimes all the tolerances just add up and it doesn't work.

This is one place where generic brake hardware assortments

really help a lot- as long as there's a bit of spring tension on the shoe,

it's all good.

I buy generic stuff from RockAuto sometimes...
