The Big 50 for 2580042

On this day, 50 years ago VIN 2580042 came off the line ready to be shipped to Montreal only to end up in Vancouver, BC a month later. The Colorado was sold by Vancouver Auto in March of 1972 to  Dr. M Gallagher as a gift to his wife. Apparently she did not like driving the car so it was sold to a friend of mine some 3 years later only to end up in my garage after a short time thereafter (April, 76) I forked over 4500.00 to my pal for my new car with 23k miles on the clock. It was a present to myself as a reward for starting a new career as a Firefighter.....the rest they say is history.

And yet another '02 makes it to the half-century mark, still going strong!

So....in the year and three days between the time your car came off the line and mine did, BMW built 7032 2002s for the US (and Canadian) market.

cheers and keep on driving

2587090, build date 19 December '72.  They must have had a nice Christmas/New Years break...or Max's warehouses were full of unsold cars...
