One of the things I find is, as I age, while the time spend fixing things goes way down,

the time diagnosing has not gone down nearly as much.  It's not always trivial.

 

We were at the track a few years back, and someone's E30 was just whistling away.

We're all looking at it, scratching our heads, wishing we had a mechanic's stethoscope,

and a GOOD E30 mechanic walks by and just puts his thumb over the missing bolt in the

intake manifold,

Then walks on.
