Hi folks! [emoji1366]

I’m a new member and have a Fjord Blue 1974 2002tii that I will be bringing back to life.

The car is owned by my brother in FL and he shipped it out to me in CA since he is deploying to the Middle East with the US ARMY for the next year.

This is a “forever” car for us so we plan on a full restoration eventually. The car runs and drives, but it needs everything redone, and I hope to learn from you guys as I get this car dialed in.

Thanks for having me aboard. [emoji1360]

The alloy wheels aren’t correct for a ‘74, but I don’t mind them! They look great.

The Vanagon is my daily driver and has been in the family for 20 years.

I also have an E39 that I adore and also an old Ford Pinto wagon that I happened to run into recently and got that fixed up really nicely.

A hot bath was badly needed after its long truck ride.

Congratulations! You will get a lot of support on this board. If you want to, you should write info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com to get the build info they have on your car. Car seems to have been cared for, and hopefully you will get to enjoy it for years to come.

What's the VIN #? You should added to the Registry using the link at the top of the page.

That is going to be lovely, looks great now.

why do you think the wheels aren’t correct for the year, I could be wrong but they were an option from the early 02’s to the end of the run, certainly as part of the sport package and found their way into many 02’s, my favourite wheel on an 02, I just don’t like them on a white car so much, which is unfortunate as mine is Chamonix?

 Thank you!!

I was told that the alloys specific to 1974 were a one year only affair and as rare as hens teeth.

Here’s what the 1974 only alloys supposedly look like:

WOW   My first BMW was this same car  A 1974 Tii  with sunroof and Behr Air Conditioning  Lots of fond memories about that car.

Congratulations on your acquisition. This Board is absolutely outstanding   Don't be bashful about asking a question  The Search feature will be of great help

Re: the wheels  what you have are the dealer option alloys  Keep them.  The other picture shows e30 bottlecaps- avoid them in your case because Tiis deserve restoration close to original in order to avoid negatives in value.

Congratulations and welcome

Thank you! I will do my best as the custodian of this car to fix it up properly and period correct. [emoji1360]

Welcome to the joy of owning a true drivers car.  I hope you will enjoy the process.

Cheers,

Matt

Thanks! Restoring this car will be a dream come true and I’m going to enjoy every second of it.

Out of all the BMWs I’ve owned, this one is the most exciting! E23, E30, E34, E39, E46...
