Best place to purchase Weber 32/36?

After attempting to rebuild my Weber 32/36 I find I am in the market for a new one as the old is just too far gone.

Symptoms are car will barely run on primary circuit, but I can keep it running by continuously working the throttle.

I cleaned all the circuits to no avail. No apparent vacuum leaks.

The secondary circuit allows the engine to run fairly smoothly when I rev or hold the pedal down.

Freshly flushed fuel tank and filter.

Anyway; looking for the best place to purchase one that can ship it within a day or two to Boston.

The carb appears to he quite old, so I am assuming it has been on the car for sometime.

Many offers on Amazon for replacement for jeeps and Toyota, but no mention of jetting.

One last question; do I replace my water choke with a manual or electric, or keep as is.

Thanks

It would be nice to purchase from a specialist like Ireland, Top End or even Blunt who know what an 02 is an will jet accordingly. If you are confident with the jets you have then you can always transfer them to the new carb from old. Alternatively, look up CD’s jetting prescription on this site and just give that list to whoever you want to supply and see if they will re-jet to that spec (if not then it tells you a lot about the type of company they are).

As for the choke, I would stick with the water choke as it works well when set up.

My assumption is the jetting currently is correct for the car.

I'd prefer to just have it sent with jets, vs. transferring my old ones.

Guess I need to make a call, as Blundt didn't list weber on line from my search.

And, I presume the Amazon guys are just quick pack and shop warehouses with little or no tech suport.

Does Redline just distribute, or do they sell to the public?

I also noticed a newer style water choke that has the inlet/outlet straight across instead of at an angle, which makes adjusting the choke really difficult as the hoses get jammed against the manifold and other piping.

Thanks for the feedback.

And being an old Luddite, I'd say go for a manual choke, even if it means you have to source a choke cable and the aluminum lower steering column surround (if you have a late 72 or later car that came with a 2 barrel Solex).

But first make sure your old Weber is well and truly dead.  After much fussing around with my 1979 vintage 32/36, I replaced it, only to find that the running problem wasn't the carburetor after all.  I presume you removed the carb from the car, dismantled it and gave it an overnight bath in a can of carburetor cleaner, then blew out the passages with compressed air and reassembled.

Or if you didn't, and the problem seems to be with poor performance on the primary barrel, check the idle circuit as well as the main jet circuit. The idle circuit provides most of the fuel up to about 2500 rpm, so that may be the source of your problem.

Also, try squirting some carburetor cleaner (or wave an unlit propane torch) near the carb's primary barrel shaft.  If the idle speed increases, you have an air leak around the shaft; folks make a kit to re-bush that shaft--much cheaper than a new carb.

Just saying, make sure you need a new carb before springing for one.

Try Pierce Manifolds (https://www.piercemanifolds.com/), people here seem to be pretty happy with them and they can jet your carb for you.

Just bought a water choke 32/36 from Pierce Manafolds last week for my 76.  Called them up and explained what I was looking for and received it quickly.

Thanks guys, ordered a manual choke from Blunt.

As for rebuild, yes I do a thorough cleaning of all the passageways.

After fiddling some more with it I discovered a leak at the acceleration pump.

The cheap Chinese rebuild kit's diaphragm would just twist at the screws and leak.

I replaced it with my original which was much heavier and the car ran better, to the point I could actually get it to idle.

Drove OK, under heavy steady acceleration it pulled good, but when it the secondaries kicked in it bogged and then caught.  I did replace the power valve.

Honestly, $45 for a carb kit and almost 3 hours of my time; I just said the heck with it and will start fresh.

I have lots of other things to attend to, so hopefully this will resolve the driveability issues.

Thanks for all the info.
