Mike, congrats on 47 years, I hit 35 years of 02 ownership last month. My first 02 was a 75 Euro spec Sahara 1802 that I had while stationed at Sembach Air Base Germany in the early 80's. I drove that car all over Europe and that's where I got hooked on 02's. 35 years later, I'm still driving a Sahara 02.

Congratulations.  I also hit 47 years on March 23 with my 1600-2.  Thanks to you and other people on this site I have been able to keep it going and make upgrades which should keep it going for many more years. I am just now finishing up a 5 speed conversion, engine rebuild and suspension work.  Going to Brisbane tomorrow to get a few more ideas.

Always nice to know they last.  My first 02 was a 67 1602 I purchased used from a dealer that no longer exist.

that was in Feb.68.   My 72 TII has been in my stable since November 77.  The TII has 333K on the speedo.

I hope to put another 200K on the Speedo.  G

Bought my first 2002 (with a blown head gasket, cause that's all I could afford) in 1972.. So I'd be right here with you except for that "consecutive year" thing.  Had a 7 year hiatus where I bought a house, started a business, and had a kid.  Had to part with a tii that I didn't have the money or time to care for properly.  Wish I had those years back, automotively speaking. Glad you kept the faith throughout!
