Wheel Help

Utah02

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

These were thrown up for sale and they are really close to my home. Seems like a good deal except they are 5x114. I know that's of course not the right lug pattern but could I do a conversion? How hard would it be? Worth it? Etc. They are 15x7 5x114 et40. They just seem like a good deal and I like the way they look. Plus the added bonus of them being a stones throw from my home and I can pay in cash no tax. So, hit me with whatever you've got. Tell me this is smart or stupid.

Thanks

Colby

Hey Utah,

I would agree with the guys above. I recently fit a set of miata wheels onto my 2002 and they had the correct lug pattern (4x100). Here are some things I would consider:

1- longer studs via ireland engineering (ARP and fit perfectly)- probably would be needed for your offset

2- wheel spacers that fit the miata wheel but had to get machined to fit (raceland usa purchased and machined locally)- probably needed for your offset. not sure what size/ type of spacer you would need.

3- make sure new suspension & wheel combo will fit. (had to look at current suspension/ wheel combo and use online converter to calc to find what will and wont work)- definitely needed if you dont understand wheel dimensions like me!

Although just 3 things, it was a long process. In your case, you have to factor in different lug pattern and what it takes to make that work. (redrill, adapters, spacers, other)

Hope that helps and my suggestion would be to find 4x100 lug pattern rims. Plenty of them out there.

Dude, your original post shows a pic of a 5 lug wheel with an offset for a FWD car.  There are lots of good looking wheels out there but sorry, they won't all fit on a 2002.

Read this thread before you spend any money on wheels and tires.

This thread of 02 wheel candy will give you some ideas.

Don't throw away your money just because you like some wheels that look good. Do your research and your pocketbook will thank you.
