So, basically, this thread is a perfect excuse for us to post pictures of our engine bays, yes? I've done many of the things already described: lots of cleaning, fresh paint, and eliminating whatever is not necessary. I also spent quite a bit of time figuring out where wiring was going to run and then wrapping it nice and cleanly. Personally, I think this goes a long way to keeping a bay looking nice and somewhat OE in appearance, even if it's quite a ways from factory original, so to speak.

If the engine comes out I'll be goin in. For now I've just detailed the compartment walls, all parts, including media blasting and clear-coating all top end aluminum. Replaced all fabric covered hoses and rubber hoses.

Only non-OEM parts are secondary battery hold-down, and starter relay. Everything else is stock.

Not as tidy as an M2...

I have that same washer bottle mounted in that exact spot. Very happy with it, since my car didn't come with one.

Looking at the same one to replace mine. I need to remove the residual smog junk to move the bottle there. I am also  glad to see that someone made it work. The original reservoir seems to take up the whole engine bay. The replacement  bottle (pretty inexpensive on Amazon)  has a small built in pump tightening up things even more.

Loose: Not tightly bound. Subject to motion.
Lose: What happens when you are spell check dependent.

1975 Malaga. It is rusty and  springs an occasional leak.  Just like me.

Not the greatest of photos to show the washer reservoir, but I'm part way through my engine bay clean up. Smog junk is gone. I removed the charcoal canister as well. I installed a catch can where the original reservoir was (or wasn't in my case). It's been a long process since I've done a little at a time, but I'm much happier with the car now than when I got it.
