Jacking up a rusty car?

Utah02

Recommended Posts

Like a lot of 2002s, mine is suffering from rust. My jack points and rockers are rotted out and I cant figure out a place to jack my car up. Working on my front suspension, where do you suggest I lift my car?

Thanks

frame rails and front and rear subframes.

many threads on this topic found with faq google search using "jack points"

however...if your rockers are that bad......you should fix those before worrying about suspension stuff.   inner rockers are structural and the rear subframe attaches near the rear jack point.

Yeah, right in the middle of the front subframe, then put the jackstands to either side.

And I dunno- the first 2002 I worked on mechanically in 1990 had no rockers whatsoever, and I

couldn't bring myself to tell the owner that she had a deathtrap.

She eventually got it all fixed up, and last I knew, still had it as a weekend driver.
