They weren't painted to begin with.  But your car will be faster if you paint yours bright red.

thanks guys that's what I wanted to hear. I think someone did a rebuild of mine years ago and painted it silver. The paint is flaking off now. Guess ill strip it and buff it out.

I just did this.  Please refer to my project blog "2002ti wannabe" for pics.

a   Bead blast exterior of housing and top cover (be careful to cover all openings to protect the bushings and bearing races)

b   Wipe down with Eastwood's  "PRE" cleaner (spray)

c   Spray with Eastwood's Self etching primer

d   Spray with Eastwood's Aluma blast paint (two light coats)

e   Spray with Duplicolor alloy wheel clear paint (one light coat)

Thanks guys. I am about to do a rebuild 2 boxes in the next few weeks for 2 different cars. I might polish one and paint the other to see how they come out. I'll post pictures when I am done.
